I'm going to go slightly rogue, and talk about King's Dominion for a moment.

Origins is an incredible show which I see every time I can, and I think Busch Gardens could do really well with something similar! They could theme it to Italian acrobats or something, but while I love musicals, and think BG does generally well with them, something more physical and daring would be an exciting addition to the lineup.

That's part of why I'm sad One for All got phased out—it had stunts! Sure, stuff would light on fire occasionally, but it was still physical.

I live in NOVA, which isn't out of state, but isn't particularly close either, especially driving on I95.

I agree that BGW offers something special that encourages me to drive past SFA and KD, but is 100% not the shows. I love theater, which is why I support my local arts. I find park shows cringy and boring. Periodically, I get bullied into sitting through one of the performances at BGW, and I always regret it. (Before anyone attacks me, I am not criticizing the on-stage talent; I fully blame the producers, choreographers, etc.)

What draws me to BGW (and the rest of SEAS parks) is the balance of thrill rides, animals experiences, culinary options, theming, and landscaping. I worry that BGW/SEAS is slowly moving resources away from the aspects of their parks that make them charming, and focusing more and more on amusement rides. I understand that for some the shows and concerts are part of that charm, but they aren't for everyone.

Now that I think about it, a Shakespeare/Elizabethan era themed Cirque show in the Globe would be awesome to watch because I did highly enjoy Origins at Kings Dominion. If the park must scale down on 1-2 shows for new rides then I can't blame them, it's just I loved that balance of rides/shows/landscaping when I visit.

But 2019 is going to be once again a good year for a few visits. ?

My family drives 700 miles almost every summer to spend five days at BGW and WCUSA. Many varied unique aspects of the park are important to us from theming to food, landscaping, unique rides, quality service, and definitely top notch shows. All of these aspects combined are necessary to keep people returning and to distinguish the park from others. These attributes are what make it a theme park destination, not just a local attraction.

I hope BGW fills the voids in their current entertainment lineup with worthwhile productions. The Globe Theatre should be a showcase for the best entertainment the park can offer. If British rock isn't working, then they should appeal to the masses with a spectacular skating show or magic extravaganza. The San Marco theater is an excellent open-air dining and entertainment venue that can wow people who might not visit a theatre intentionally. Many will watch a show there intentionally, but if others are impressed by what they stumble upon while eating, they may visit other indoor shows.

I miss the days when a quality Italian musical production with live musicians by day shared the Italian stage with the amazing Starlight Orchestra by night. Those were the days of great entertainment at BGW, and I believe people would respond to that quality today.

Unfortunately, I believe BG is cutting funding to entertainment while focusing on marketable new rides. That may get people in the door in the short term (although I think Finnegan's Flyer attracts a very narrow clientele), but I hope the park returns to a well rounded approach soon. Focusing on new rides is a road to a well themed amusement park, not a theme park destination.

BGW used to be a quality over quantity park. They need to return to that mindset in my opinion.

I believe there is a place for one high-budget stage show (read: Celtic Fyre) and simple, thematically appropriate, budget-friendly song/dance shows in each of the dinner theaters (read: This is Oktoberfest and The Italian Ensemble).

During the summer (as a type of sudo summer event), something like Imaginique or Kinetix probably deserves to take up residence in the RPT too.

Where BGW went wrong was trying to turn Das Festhaus and The Globe into spaces for expensive, high-end theatrical productions. Especially now, the budgets to sustain those products just simply aren't there.

As I theorized previously, if "Madrid" is happening, construction should begin rather soon. There's a lot of clearing, drilling, pounding, etc. that'll be happening literally right behind San Marco. So, perhaps, they felt it not a conducive environment for entertainment. Makes you wonder if they'll try to compete with the coaster noise once it's compete.
 
Mix It Up was a loud show. I find it hard to believe construction noise would be in conducive. If the construction was that loud, it wouldn't be enjoyable to dine, shop, or stroll in that area.

I was just basing my theory on what my friend told me about a week's worth of very loud pile driving for Finnegan's Flyer. The area behind San Marco is in the RPA, which (I assume) means they'll have to get down a bit to reach bedrock. And there are a lot more footers shown there than I saw for FF. I'm sure they'll try to time loud noise during off hours, but they do have a lot to set in that area. Again, just a theory.
 
the park doesnt do construction during operating hours, mostly. all the land clearing and such for tempesto was overnight, same for finegans flyers, same for invadr, most of the loud construction work is done during the off season
 
I would imagine the first work we will see if the new animal area since they will need to have that complete before removal or major work in their current location. I guess this also means no house this HOS there in Italy?

In general I agree with this, however in this case much of the work is a fair bit away from any active part of the park. Unlike Tempesto and Finegans Flyer, they are not building directly adjacent to a path or other ride. It seems far more reasonable to me that they can and would work during op hours.

tbf i did say mostly, the only more recent times theyve done construction during op hours is with finnegans flyers during CMT, but they werent doing anything that was noisy.

the HOS house is not within the projected construction area, it's on the edge. they can still make it work.
 
They also probably wouldn't be doing much construction during the time that the maze is open because I believe they open at 6 pm. They could construction during the day and be done before the maze opens.

Also with FF they did work during operation but it was mostly just excavation and ground work. They refrained from noisy work when the park was open
 
Now there was a post on Instagram that was since deleted but one user (who I think works for the park) said something about being "highly excited" for what's coming to the Globe Theater this season but couldn't say anything about it. Take that for what you will.

The user did say that something was coming "later" after Elmo, but I am taking that with a grain of salt.
