I believe they said they needed tight tolerances for the drive tires on the lift hill which is why they opted for steel track. Not so much the reason for structural. I wonder if a reason more isnt titan track is maybe they wouldn't be able to manufacture more track in time or maybe the park still wasn't fully sold on the idea and only wanted those 2 sections (lift and turn) as a prototype.

ZZ soft-opened this weekend to passholders. GCI done effed up as this was suppose to be a family coaster allowing 40" and under to ride with a parent. Well, this ride is now classified as a level 5 thrill ride with a 48" height requirement which is same as their other GCI (Prowler) and their Mamba hypercoaster.

What's interesting is that GCI advertises the the Flyer trains have a minimum height requirement of 42" "Depending on layout". So i'm curious how much changed that they thought they were able to lower it further than what is being advertised.

Right before that it says... "
5. (Versatile restraints) Locking device: Hydraulic/mechanical
a. Meets EN and ASTM standards for class 4 or 5 restraints and allows riders as low as 40 in (1.02m) based on ride dynamics"

They done did an Ice Breaker
This is worse than an Ice Breaker. At least that one had the positive side effect of getting more people to see that Comfort Collars are one of the worst innovations in roller coaster restraint design.

Obviously one possible culprit is that the restraints can’t accommodate kids that small,

I'm hearing this is the case. And Skyline is responsible as well since they designed these new Infinity Flyers.

That's a real fuck up, but how is the ride?

Have two friends that rode it. One said it was good but not great and had nice pacing but there was only one decent airtime moment and the lateral turn in the tunnel was pretty forceful but the other turns not so much. The other hated it - he said the best part was the tunnel and the rest of the ride was forceless on the turns and had no airtime and quite a few rough transitions.

This could be WOF's doing, final height requirements are set by the park. I305's height requirement set by Intamin is 48" but KD raised it to 54".

Possibly but this was NOT a level 5 thrill ride that Cedar Fair purchased. This was supposed to be a level 3 or level 4 family ride and it's been bumped up to a level 5, which is even more than Mystic Timbers at KI. I305 was gonna be a level 5 regardless of height requirement.

And now the park has to deal with a bit of a PR mess with this making the news...

Another example is Steel Vengence, RMC has a minimum height restriction of 48", and the earlier information on the ride was the same, but the park raised it to 54" shortly before the ride opened. The height limit is not related to the ride having the double axle trains, as Twisted Timbers also has the newer train design, but has the 48" height limit.

Zambezi seems better described not as a wood steel hybrid, but a wood-Schwarzkopf hybrid. Everything about the steel track is to make it more like the original.

Even the curve around the lift is supported off the side of the lift, like the original and not like a wood coaster. This should start at 0:52 and also check out around 1:38:

Is there any wood track or is it all titan (steel) track? It looks like it is all titan, but I wasn't sure.
