I feel like I'm one of the worst people to talk about Xmas events, but I'll post my thoughts on the event in no particular order or reason.

The lights are mostly well done. The technological superiority of them all being new and so you get some cool effects with them. These computerized synced lights were the highlight of the trip.

Why does the antique car thing have incredibly basic light displays though? The wait for that was 40 minutes and you would think that the light displays on an attraction would be at least as good as the ones on the path. They didn't even animate.

The costumed characters were cool and I'm glad they exist. For the carriages and the trolley with singers that they totally didn't steal from Disney, I think the park should figure out something else for them. They we're surrounded by people yelling at people who were in the path. I get why they're there and they are needed, but it just seems weird to me they're not using the empty part of the park for the horses when they need to put so much effort into having them.

I dug the fact that most of the midway games were games that had garanteed winners.

I'm not sure what was up with shopping. Only the front plaza had merch shops open. All the other shops had been replaced with attractions. Additionally, I was bummed that they got rid of every single bit of non Xmas merch from the shelves. I was hoping to pick up a few TT things I missed, but nothing was there. I can see why they did it, but at BGW I can still go in and find ride merch.

KD needs to work on crowd control...still. Everywhere had lines way beyond the extended queues they set up. Moving anywhere was an exercise in keeping calm.

I fed a camel.

Overall, I think the event is going to be successful. It's not perfect by a long shot though.

No. Despite having a Zoology Department and animal display areas, they have neither a living manger, horse-drawn carriages, nor reindeer for CT. It isn’t as if they have draft horses on property, and they certainly would never allow a petting zoo in their park, and where would animals be able graze and still be seen by guests... oh wait... never mind.

Not to get to off topic but to different and highly credible and reliable source have given me good reason to reverse my opinion about the possibility of using the Clydesdales for carriage rides at BGW.

A couple things I forgot...

I kind of prefer how KD does their donuts instead of BGW. They're better if you just want to get donuts for yourself instead of having to get a few normal size just for yourself.

I also loved that the staff that were greeting guests outside of attractions were dressed as elves including ears.

The make your own cookies were only available as a four pack. I wish they had options for single decoration kits. It's not like I wanted to decorate one. BAKA

I was actually really impressed last night. KD really hit it off well. Some of that was the weather keeping the crowd to more more reasonable level but a lot of that was KD nailing it. My only complaint was with the finsl show. Using the band stand for large crowd events just doesn't work well the space is just too narrow I wish they would reverse it and setup a stage under the tower to allow for the crowd to spread out up international street on eighth side of the fountain. They further crowded the stage area by setting up tents snd tables on either side to distribute the noise makers and hats that they were giving out which also served to block the view of the stage from the sides. And then in what has to be an epic fail they somehow didn't get in a countdown for the new years leaving only the bursting of the fireworks to signal that it had arrived unannounced. The fireworks display was very nice especially considering the weather. The only other gripe I had was that they did a champagne bar by the stage but in true kd fotm it was cash only. I can't figure out why kd has a hard time figuring out that there are very good, secure, and inexpensive portable card processing machines and that a significant and growing portion of the population doesn't carry a lot of cash on them.

When I was in the Gulf a camel spit at me. I still do not understand what it was doing at the port, but that is a different issue.

At least their fireworks went off at midnight, I presume?

We were at SWO a couple of years ago for New Year’s Eve, and their countdown started after 12am. The crowd watched the Universal fireworks, minutes before SeaWorld did theirs.

And do you think that wasnt planned.....UO has deeper pockets so got the Fire Marshals approval for fireworks at midnight.....leaving SWO to wait till they were finished. At least if I had to guess......

I had to share this rather unfortunate update from KD Fanatics... I’m sure it will be fixed before next year, but still...Geez.

Weird, in that the rear bumper does not appear to have a scratch on it. Either the trolley driver backed into another bigger vehicle (with a higher bumper/ground clearance) or someone ran into the back of it. Might have hit a structure. If that was the case, the structure must have had some sort of protrusion to do damage that high up.

Since Canada's Wonderland gets Winterfest this year, I assume they will get a trolley as well and the fabricator could create another end-cap for KD while building CW's.

I came across this a while back concerning the Winterfest entertainment offerings. I am not sure if this was posted during Winterfest time or not. But, KD used two casting companies to hire all the entertainers for the event. The Shows were split between MoonMaxx Productions and RWS Associates.

MoonMaxx Cast:
Tinkers Toy Factory
Sounds of the Nativity
The Mistletones

RWS Cast:
Charlie Brown’s Christmas Spectacular
Cool Yule Christmas
Holly Jolly Trolley

Uncertain who cast the following: (I am leaning MoonMaxx for all three below)
Jingle Jazz
Four Drummers Drumming
"Reindeer" roving Band

I believe the casting for the Peanuts characters and the Holiday Atmosphere characters were split between both companies as well.
