Kings Dominion just announced its New Year’s Eve activities! It’s pretty close to Kings Island’s announcement, which I posted earlier on in the thread.

The holiday fun doesn’t stop when Christmas ends! Kings Dominion is offering a brand-new way to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a family-friendly alternative: New Year’s Eve at WinterFest!
From 4PM – 10PM, enjoy all your favorite WinterFest activities around the park. Then, at 10PM, the New Year’s Eve party starts, featuring:
  • Live bands and DJs
  • Snoopy’s Rockin’ NYE Party, with a big countdown timer at midnight
  • Midnight fireworks
  • Party favors

The park finally added the carriage rides to the Winterfest website:

Kings Dominion said:
Take in the night of memory making with a nice stroll on a horse-drawn carriage. The perfect treat for a romantic night with your loved one or a joyful voyage with your friends and family, our classic carriage rides will take guests through WinterFest Way for a decorative journey that’s both timeless and unique.

As you go dashing through the way, bells on bobtails will ring, making spirits bright. What fun it is to laugh and sing on a carriage ride at night!

Additional fee required.

What confuses me is that the website says the carriage rides take place in Winterfest Way (Candy Apple Grove), but this doesn't make sense since the map says carriage rides board at the Safari Village arch, and KDFans previously reported that the carriage rides would take place in Safari Village.

Rides cost $10 per person and "last approximately 10 to 12 minutes and are scheduled in 15 minute increments."

I have to say thats pretty impressive. I can not wait till tomorrow evening. I feel like BGW boasts that they have over 10 million lights but smashing 1 million lights on one tree while pretty cool its not the best use of lights. I really feel like WF isreally going to look impressive.I just hope it has the warm and cozy feeling that I get at CT. If it does I will be super happy!

I can’t believe the big day is finally here! The first-ever WinterFest begins TONIGHT! What are y’all looking forward to the most?

For me, I’m looking most forward to seeing how KD does its Midway Merriment. The website says that there are “up to 34” characters, which I believe is the largest number in the entire Cedar Fair chain. I say this because during Haunt, KD is known for its amazing monsters, so I’m sure that the park was even more selective to pick an amazing cast for this particular “attraction”. If it plays out the way I picture it, this could easily help WinterFest separate itself from Christmas Town (since I don’t think CT has anything like this outside of the mascot characters... it’s been a while since I’ve been there so I could be wrong).

I’m also looking forward to seeing how the sets of the attractions (St. Nick’s Pics, Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen, etc.) look and if they compete with the newer Haunt mazes when it comes to detail.

I am also looking forward to it, and we will be there at opening unless my wife is still out Black Friday shopping... we went to CT last weekend on Saturday and really enjoyed it, and didn't see the glitches that some observed on the preview night.

One thing that we like about CT are the shows. Last weekend we went to Gloria twice and Scrooge twice (where Scrooge and Tiny Tim were each played by different actors at the early and late shows, both sets were good), so we wonder if WF will have shows that are also on par with CT and are eager to check those out.

Aside from that, I understand from earlier posts that the Eiffel Tower will be closed, which is a shame as it would be fun to look from the top with all the lights on, oh well. So thanks again to the PP who posted the pic of the lights, that was nice to see.

We already online purchased a couple of the Hot Chocolate mugs, where we got one from CT last year but skipped it this year as refills were $2.19 at CT and $1 at WF.

We are skipping the ice skating, $15 each seems kinda high but if the participation at $15 is not too high and they have a 2-for-1 deal in coming weeks we may give it a try.

So we have our heavy coats and hats and gloves ready and looking forward to this evening!

We too will be there! Im personally a Christmas lights person so I am excited to see everything lit up. I also am excited to see that huge ice rink even though I dont skate. I wont be doing any rides because well I can do them in the summer well except for the caroseul...that will be nice to see the lights from. Still undecided on the Carriage rides....will wait to see if they look worth it or not.

They are using the old Ranger Smith Jeep’s in Santa’s Workshop. This makes me so happy seeing this old park history!
