My Kings Island experiences were in active snow. There was no snow upon arrival. I have been to the park also in following days with snow on the ground, but the most magical experiences were when it was falling from the sky covering every thing.BGW has been open in the past with snow in the park. However, it hasn't been actively snowing and enough time has passed that they could clear the park and roads have been cleared. If it snows this Fri/Sat it is possible that there is still a significant level of snow on Sunday.
I concur, I've been at work during some storms at BGW and it really is beautiful. I might need to dig through some pictures that I have taken and share themMy Kings Island experiences were in active snow. There was no snow upon arrival. If this is the case, it’s 100% because of temps. Winter operations appears to be a total failure if they don’t operate as schedule in normal dry winter weather. But then again, no reason to open. Nothing to do. Definitely not well thought out.Park is not going to be open on Saturday from what I am told. Don't know when it will be announced.
I have heard the same with the caviot that they are currently doing some reconsidering as the forecast has started to improve. expect an announcement by late tomorrow if they do close.Park is not going to be open on Saturday from what I am told. Don't know when it will be announced.
I was at Hershey’s holiday event in the snow one year and my main experience was feeling cold and wet.Having been in HersheyPark in the snow I can tell you that is fucking miserable.
I slid the whole way from Kissing Tower Hill to Comet Hollow. On my ass.I was at Hershey’s holiday event in the snow one year and my main experience was feeling cold and wet.
Ouch! Were you injured at all?I slid the whole way from Kissing Tower Hill to Comet Hollow. On my ass.
Nope. I did it intentionally. I was a teen and dumb.Ouch! Were you injured at all?
Phew, now I don't feel so bad for laughing when I first read that.Nope. I did it intentionally. I was a teen and dumb.
Not really. Boardwalk and Midway are elevation the same as the main gate. Kissing Tower Hill is higher and the creek is lower. The biggest issue, unlike BGW, is there’s no good way to avoid the main terrain dip and rise to get from the front to…well anywhere.Doesn’t Hersheypark have a lot of hills like BGW? I haven’t been there in a while. I was at Christmas Town in 2009 when it snowed and it was fun for about half an hour. Then, people started slipping everywhere and the park sent out as many team members as possible to shovel snow, and some even used brooms.
Can confirm that this is true. It seems that BGW considers this year a success based on what they expected the numbers to beThe park did announce closer for Saturday this afternoon. Sunday is currently still a go with them noting that people should check back closer to it for updates.
I other news I am hearing that the park has been pretty pleased with the numbers for winter weekends. Attendance is a little lower then what they were hoping for but spending per a guest a apparently close to what they were expecting maybe even slightly higher.
It is not due to Temps directly. The park has been open in the teens and single digits before during CT. It is however due to the snow and the level of Ice that will come as the snow melts some and then refreezes. This makes it hard to clear the park. In addition, part of the consideration is employee safety. It will be difficult for enough employees to open to safely get to work, so it isn't worth risking making them attempt to come in.If this is the case, it’s 100% because of temps. Winter operations appears to be a total failure if they don’t operate as schedule in normal dry winter weather. But then again, no reason to open. Nothing to do. Definitely not well thought out.
The following Fri is only supposed to be 40. Will Mardi Gras first weekend see a closed park?
