The Safari has been something that has struggled along for several years now, with different past iterations of senior leadership giving serious consideration of closing it altogether. The Off Road Adventure revamp was championed by the park GM at the time amidst pressures to close it down, and look how its hobbled along since then post-COVID. I imagine that given the current corporate environment, leadership will be giving shutting it down completely some serious consideration.

Seriously. This and SFDK are the only parks left in the super-chain that still have animal exhibits, right?

That said, the fact that there was a butterfly conservatory in a Six Flags park at SFDK blew me away when I visited for the first time last month, and was easily the highlight of the trip (and yes I rode all of the coasters LOL).

The only regional parks I fully trust w their animals are the Busch Gardens parks, and even then I've never been to Tampa. I just think we should be reserving animal care/exhibits to organizations where that's their complete focus. Unless it's Disney w their fuck you money and full-size safari habitat

you trust United parks, with one of the most over controlling, unethical penny pinching boards to take care of it's animals?

I trust BGW, which only has climate-appropriate animals and sizeable enclosures away from the rides.

I have done many behind the scenes animal tours at BGW, BGT, and SWO. They all highlighted the modern techniques they use in their animal care (positive reinforcement, etc). For example, they have competely changed how they interact with their elephants at BGT to adapt to current science, norms, and standards. The rhetoric about their programs put out during the Blackfish era never matched what I was seeing in person.

All of that said, we have other threads for this discussion and we should probably get back to Wild Safari.

Does anyone know if this is still running from inside the park? Taking my toddler today and would be good to know before dragging a stroller along.

I didn't see any signage set up to indicate that it was; usually they have a board with a description about their QR based reservations. That said, I only passed by it in the morning yesterday (it usually didn't start running until 12), so it could just be that they hadn't set the sign up yet. My best guess would be no with a sincere hope that I'm wrong. Have a great day at the park!
