Hello, folks. I have returned from my long slumber (aka forgetting this site exists). So, to sort of break the ice a bit, I want to know what y’all think is next for KD. Whether it be a completely new ride, or a retheme to an existing ride, or even a ride y’all think is gonna bite the dust next, I wanna see what y’all think is gonna happen in the near future.

New rides in OVA. Jungle X has enough new stuff at the moment.
Flat ride package in old Xtreme Skyflyer plot. KD needs some new flats after removing some. Also could use another Roller Coaster in go karts plot to help balance the lopsidedness of the coaster distribution.
Next to go is FoF and White Water Canyon.

As much as I'd like a new big coaster, I'd rather see them build something like Harmony Hall at Carowinds. Kings Dominion needs more things indoors and for non coaster lovers. The coaster lineup is one of the best. I can only think of a couple parks in the USA with a better lineup.

I think we could be seeing a waterpark expansion next, preferably a mat racer slide. I also remember from the ACE Q&A that a Backlot retheme to match Jungle X is something they’re very interested in doing, they’re just waiting till they have proper funding. That and the next time they invest in Jungle X, it would likely be for Backlot.

After the waterpark, I could envision them doing:
  • Planet Snoopy (preferably a Vekoma family boomerang)
  • New flat rides in go kart and Skyflyer plot.
  • Boo Blasters retheme to fit Jungle X
  • New major coaster in Old Virginia
Also wishful thinking, but I’d love for there to be a new Grand Pavilion style restaurant where Anaconda’s lift used to be, with seating overlooking the water of Lake Charles. Alongside another flat ride in Jungle X.

I think the guest survey from October should give us a pretty good idea of what they're looking at for the near-ish future. Based on this it feels like some sort of waterpark expansion will be next for them.

The adult pool/lagoon is very intriguing. I assume there'd be a bar. As a childless young adult most waterparks feel very family oriented to me and I don't think one could ever expect a truly relaxing experience at any of them, but it's an interesting prospect

See the swim up bar recently added to Carowinds for an example of what that would look like. It's in its own sectioned off area and is a regular pool rather than a water attraction. That, plus a mat racer could be a great addition to market a new-and-improved waterpark, new name and all.

Having a brand-new Sally dark ride at the park would be incredible, and I honestly would love to see it be Peanuts themed to incorporate it with the nearby Planet Snoopy. KD's iteration of Boo Blasters is in dreadful condition and is in need of either significant upgrades like Carowinds', or a new ride entirely.

The dream is a floater-focused hyper in the back of the park as was planned a long time ago, but it's not likely to happen anytime soon. I think a Backlot retheme should be the highest priority; it remains a popular ride, but it was ugly before, and it's especially ugly now that it sticks out like a sore thumb in Jungle X. Spruce up that bad boy and incorporate snakes into its theme somehow because with the removal of Anaconda, the snake is no longer represented among rides in Jungle X. I really think something has to be done about the FoF building too. It is insanely ugly and highly visible now that it's not covered up by Volcano.

I would really like to see them do something about the exit on Racer 75. I don't understand why it routes you so far away from the entrance of the ride. Grizzly needs a new entrance plaza that's not hidden by the gift shop; maybe once the Skyflyer is demolished that's something they could pursue, along with an additional flat or two to help draw attention to the area and redistribute crowds away from Jungle X. These are all the things that immediately spring to mind.

a launched STC would be a fun nod to volcano
If they decided on an STC, I think it'd have to be launched to help distinguish it from BGW's now two inverts. The Volcano homage would be nice, and that'd go a long way toward reclaiming KD's title as the launched coaster capital.

The swim-up bar at Cedar Point Shores is like the main reason I go to that park. The first time I found it random, I ended up spending the whole day there and had like a $100+ tab when I left LOL. The one at Ocean Oasis in Wildwood is prime too, and is literally steps from the lazy river - get a drink, do a lap, get a drink, do a lap, repeat until closing.

I know its a personal problem but I wish i didnt have to drive 6hrs to get on a ride like fury. VA needs that big ass grand extremely re ridable addicting ride that fury/orion. 305 is cool but its a god damn gamble wether or not that thing is even open and it lacks that path interaction that adds excitment to the ride of being watched while on it. It's also just not re ridable for most. Theres nothing at BGW that i find myself needing to ride more than twice. We as a state are just missing "that" ride that literally everyone can ride and is still a statment piece while also being addicting to ride over and over.

I love these retheme and yes they are needed but man it's looking like between KD and BG were so far away from seeing another "statment" ride. KD has theirs but BGW doesn't. Pantheon doesnt have that wow factor looking at it. You can hardly see it anywhere in the park besides festa and the marco bridge into germany. Hell it barely pokes out over coming off interstate. Could just be a personal problem though. Even then though I think were so god awful far away from seeing any major coaster in VA

Nice to know I'm not the only one who would love to see an STC at the park, especially in Old Virginia. The two that are already built, look amazing and I'd like to see one next to Grizzly where GrimmWoods is (as long as they don't sacrifice too many trees). It's one oy my favorite areas of the park, but it definitely could use some love.

Realistically, I could see a flat replace Xtreme Skyflyer. I've always had a vision of a Zamperla Endeavour in that spot and name it Apple Turnover as a tribute to the Enterprise that used to be in the park.

Is it known if Carowinds scrapped Scream Weaver or not? That would genuinely make me so happy bc that was one of my favorite flats ever and my heart was torn out and crushed to dust when they removed it. Same with Nighthawk. And Drop Tower. That whole removal spree was EVIL.

I wonder if xtreme skyflyer can fit two flat rides because my idea is to move delirium to xtreme skyflyer spot and part that zamperla endeavour and use the current site of delirium for a new coaster
