Coaster101 has a nice recap of Waldameer's 2025 announcements at the link below. Major story is that they're replacing their vintage Eyerly Aircraft Co. Spider (big RIP) with a NebulaZ. Their paratrooper is also being removed, but that is apparently temporary.

Removal of a Spider is unforgivable. Especially for a flat that is proliferating across the industry.

Like you, I hate seeing these rides disappear. However this one at Waldameer is 47 years old. Most of the Eyerly Spiders from the 70s and earlier are no longer operating so it's nice to see it lasted as long as it did. Holiday World ran their Spider (Paul Revere's Midnight Ride) as long as they could (from 1978 to 2011) until it became an unreliable maintenance problem.

I grew up riding that spider. Got my last cycle in on it just last year. That will be a sorely missed one for me because you can spin it SO hard if you sit in the correct spot of the seat.

It makes sense though. The park could use a new flat in that area and there's zero room without taking something out. I'd personally show up with pitchfork and lit torch if they removed their awesome Chance Rides Trabant, their Ali baba is really tucked in tight and has a water feature, the drop tower is too new, the Wacky Shack is a local legend, and there isn't much else to do but remove the spider.

Nebulaz look awesome, but too bad they get kinda boring after the first ride or two.

Lastly, I hope the paratrooper removal doesn't become tempermanent. Riding that is the earliest theme park memory I have with my father.
