^ Um, it's more-or-less technologically equivalent to TH13TEEN. Anyone know anything about TH13TEEN's up-time when it opened? How is Verbolten's sister (Manta) running over at SWSD? Honestly, can anyone point out another example of a ride that has been shut down for days multiple times in its first weeks?

^ If I recall correctly, 13 was down quite a bit when it first opened. Probably not on the scale of V-bolt, but the ride still had plenty of downtime.

That being said, I recall KK and TTD being down for a few days to get cables fixed and Chiller was down pretty consistently from the time it opened to the time it was taken out. The Deja Vu coasters were also down quite a lot their first few years to the point where only MM could get theirs running well. Oh and X had plenty of its own problems when it first opened.

That being said, Verbolten's uptime has surprisingly been quite high. Outside of two major breakdowns and a few minor delays here and there, I'm surprised that with all the new tech involved, the ride's been up pretty consistently.

Everyone keeps bringing up the new technology excuse...but the problems I have been hearing about have nothing to do with new technology. Launches and brake systems have been around for years...this is what happens when Busch tries to use smaller attraction manufacturers...there are reasons why there are bigger and better companies out there.

Thirteen's downtime was appalling when it opened. Worse than Verbolten, that's for sure. And it went on for the entire season.

New technology isn't the problem... It's the complexity of the tech in use. And the fact it's brought together by a manufacturer who's never done this before. AND it's nothing like anything else the park has, so the staff on site - from attendants and operators to engineers, are inexperienced. And to be fair, the attending staff are, for the most part, doing an exceptional job of being efficient.

As for rides who've had downtime like Verbolten.... Man, I wish you guys could have seen Saw's opening day fiasco. At least Verbolten made it through the media.

Apparently someones daughter got a concussion after riding Verbolten and went to the doctor, who said he had treated many injuries from the ride?

In response to this and to edit my earlier post: I was an idiot and thought the link for the Coaster Insider Tour on the Verbolten Insider Tour page was actually the one for Verbolten, but I was wrong. I realized it after going back and looking at it again. Silly mistake and I am editing my previous post.

As for downtime, I am almost pretty sure 13 doesn't have as much special effects that are timed precisly to the location for the train. From POV's, 13 looks like any other regular coaster, with the added vertical drop. Verbolten however, has the vertical drop but has all the effects that are timed to go off at a certain where ever the train may be. If one thing goes off wrong, the whole ride is screwed up. My best guess is yes the technology is new, and they may have issues with that alone, but its seems to be more about the complexity and extensiveness of the new technology that is being the problem.

Now for the medical issues. I am pretty sure that is someone just trying to get attention; unless they were foolish and did something around the second launch to cause such injury to themselves, if you just sit there look forward then you should be good.
I know there have been some who claim the ride is rough, and thats what it comes down to with this issue. Is the ride really rough enough to give a concussion or cause injury? Or is it misguided people ignorng common sense safety practices and such?

My daughter, Erin obtained a concussion after riding Verbolten Friday at Busch Gardens. It was really scary for all of us. After a visit to the ER and Urgent Care, we know she will be ok, but what a scary and unnecessary experience for her. The doctor said that she has treated MANY injuries caused by riding Verbolten every day. There is something seriously wrong with this ride. After Erin's visit with the pediatrician tomorrow, we can then just look forward to her recovering and feeling better. There will be NO MORE Verbolten rides for us.

Don't assume she's not telling the truth. Take that as you will.

A pre-existing condition maybe?

From previous reports almost all injuries on roller coasters are at the fault of the guest due to ignorance of proper riding procedure or ingnorance of a pre-existing condition. Either that or a catastrophic incident on the ride (think Son of Beast 2006). I honestly think this is one of the events where the rider had their head forward, off the headrest, during one of the launches and experienced some whiplash.

This ride is no where near rough, it just has quick turns. The girl must have been trying to turn around and looking during the launch, idk. I don't see how that's possible

Yes the second launch is hard if you are in the back and you aren't expecting it, but concussion worthy? Probably not... I was reading all of the over protective parent comments saying how that should not run the ride because of this and parents should be warned. More concussions happened in the last 24 hours by kids playing football than concussions on Verbolten's lifetime

Its not that I assume she is not telling the truth, I just don't believe the ride is that rough to injure a person unless said person is doing something that causes them to be injured.

Aside from a preexisting condition, the only way she could've gotten a concussion is from leaning forward during either launch (I've heard of people come off with headaches from doing that), so it could definitely cause a concussion. There really isn't anything to beat your head against during the ride outside of the launches.

Either way, you're told to keep your head back against the headrest.

In the general public's defense, it really is a bit hard to do that after the drop coming off of the drop track.
