RE: Verbolten

Rode Verbolten again tonight (before Coaster Crew got their ERT). Yellow is still in the maintenance bay, on-ride videos still not working, building still smells like new paint: nothing new here.

Helpful side note: I have to definitely say that Verbolten is definitely more of a night coaster. If anyone hasn't ridden it yet, wait to ride it until it is completely dark outside, it's worth it!

My friend rabidly preferred wolves over the other two. It's easily the darkest and disguises the track the best. My favorite is spirit just because of the oddly calm atmosphere, really as if it's "lulling" you into the branches. That said, thunderstorm is really awesome, too.

And you're right that POV videos can't capture the immensity of the ride experience. That's why in the review I linked to earlier, I was really taken aback by how there are full-sized, floor-to-ceiling set-pieces with dramatic, timed lighting. The POV videos make it look like it's just flashing blacklight cutouts like Revenge of the Mummy when it's so, so much more. I think I'll be sad when the building stops smelling of fresh paint, though. :\ Maybe they could pump in the "forest" / "old pine" smell like the E.T. dark ride or Soarin' Over California.
I loved the smell in the event building :D

I am guessing that the headlight bugs are still being worked out then.

After hearing so many great reviews, me and my gf are gonna drive down 6 hours to finally see veboltron...cant wait!!! Hope its worth the drive!!!_!!!!!!

RE: Verbolten

Rode for the first time yesterday. It's a fun ride but not even close to my favorite coaster in the park. That being said the event building if very intense and I need to ride it again just so I can take it all in a bit better.

Was looking thru the website last night. The tour is up. But, you can't select a date to book. Guess they aren't sure when they will start it.

I was told June 1st, but the date was not set in stone. So my guess it any day. Keep checking back.

HAHA! I live in NH (from what I hear NH and VA have the highest amount of vanity plates) anyway, N3RD here too, mine is DOOMBGY (haunted mansion). Worst part is there is a seriously high concentration of Disney plates around here.

RE: Verbolten

PzP, lol at being able to put whatever on a plate you want. I am sure the park will not like it, but they are also the ones who ripped off a movie cover..... and Soarin'.

Great choice! I assume you have been all throughout the doombuggy site?

RE: Verbolten

Finally got my chance to ride today (3x, front/spirit, back/spirit, back/wolves)- and what a day! I don't know why, but I was able to get on every ride in the park within one loading cycle. I don't think I've ever seen it so empty, and on such a nice day to boot.

I was about to ride Vbolt a fourth time, hoping to get the thunderstorm theme, until an actual storm came within the 'shut-down' radius and forced me and the fifteen others on the train to get out and wait :dodgy:

I was definitely more impressed riding in the back, as I think sitting in the very front causes you to miss much of the timed-lighting effects with the cutouts. I feel like I saw a lot more sitting in the back, not to mention a greater sensation of speed on the launches.

There was about 2 hours of downtime today- what exactly is the issue that they're still struggling to work out?

That's a great question. I wish I knew. 1+ hours of downtime seems to be almost a daily occurrence right now. :-/

RE: Verbolten

Downtime in the middle of the day would not be an opportune time to try and get the cameras on and working. They're more likely to do that in one fell swoop overnight or just have the ride close early on a weak traffic day.

Maybe thy are trying to work on the on ride video evey so often?

They would not pull their star Eticket attraction down during hours to do work on something that does not affect ride-ability.

Cameras and lights on outside/off inside after dusk is a bug that is currently being worked on. Until such time they have them off completely from what I have seen.
