Historically, the park has held employee ride nights prior to media events and openings. For example, employees were riding Griffon weeks before its media day. With Mach Tower, employees were guinea pigs, as it were, the day prior to its opening to give the crew actual people to train with.
They did the same thing at SFA before they opened Two Face. They used us as guinea pigs during the finial testing of the coaster. I give my crash dummy results when I got my 6+ rides in from different seats that I was riding in:D

RE: Verbolten

I can confirm that most team members will not have ert before verbolten open... May 23 is their ride night

RE: Verbolten

What are the chances of Gerta and Gunther showing up and wandering around the area when Boltie opens? They have pretty clear physical descriptions on Verbolten.com.

........omg.

No. Guests will NOT be the absolute first to ride. Anyone with any knowledge of roller coasters' openings know that the park executives and the ride's engeniers are the first to ride. It would make no sense at all to ever put the guests on the ride first. Remember Cheetah Hunt's opening? Executives rode first with the people who designed the ride. Busch has always done this and it's standard practices for other parks as well (Six Flags (KingdaKa), Cedar Fair (Millenium Force), etc). If there is an employee ride night it would be similar to an ERT.

I don't mean to call you out like that Party Rocker, but it's your "absolute" assertion that rubbed me the wrong way. :)

Execs and engineers from the ride's manufacturer usually ride first then the park's execs take their turn. They usually allow the construction crew and contractors to ride before employees too. My friend was a contractor on AC and he got to ride it two weeks before the park opened.

RE: Verbolten

Just looked at verbolten.com. Anyone think Gerta and Gunther's last name, Schwartzwald, is a nod to Anton Schwartzkopf/Die Wildekatze. Pretty cool if it is. Also didn't know Zierer built Der Wirbelwind.

I think it's more of a nod (albeit a misspelled one) to the Schwarzwald, or Black Forest ;)

I would hope the engineers would ride it first.

They usually do. Intamin CEO Sandor Kernacs was the first one to ride Maverick alone and after that first ride he realized they made a design mistake with the heartline and made a decision to modify the coaster which caused it's delay in opening.

RE: Verbolten

I sort of feel bad for him, since that heartline looked like it would have been really painful...

And I read somewhere that it's a necessary step to have engineers ride a coaster first. I think it's engineers, then the construction workers that built it, then park employees, then people for the b-roll. Again, I THINK, I don't know. But I think that's how it goes most of the time.

The weird looking supports look like they could be structures for the road signs we've seen in the concept art.

maybe they are for the stairs that lead to the ground from the bridge. idk maybe its not. also tpr has a new update of pics from sunday if you care to check it out.

It varies from park chain to the another for what you are talking about. We didn't do this at SFA when I worked there back in 99. We let some employees get some rides on Two Face during the finial testing, since the State of Maryland needs to have the ride cycle with a load for several hours before it is certified and inspected by the state before it's opened to the general public.

I saw those stairs that you are talking about. I think those stairs maybe for the access to the bridge, since they are breaks that are on the bridge.

RE: Verbolten

So....if there are five trains....and three are here....

where are the other two? We can see that they aren't in the station...they aren't in the bridge.....have the other two been put on the track yet?
