Why are so many people hung up on the footers...

Because there be held up by poles which is not all the safe...

Well if you watched the first construction video that the park put out, Larry Giles explains that the pipes go really far underground and that is what supports the footers and ride track... these pipes are just not fully buried

I agree that Gunter's orange bug looks a bit bizarre on that truss and what is that tarp on top of it?

It does look strange but maybe that's what they're going for? From the ride description, it does sound like this brother / sister team are pretty odd and maybe that oddness is established in the queue. The tarp could possibly be Gunter trying to hide it from the tourists, so they don't feel anything is wrong and back out of the tour.

I hope we see, as work continues, the waterfall get either removed or replaced, the visible footers painted (especially the ones on the water), and perhaps something done about the floating footers.

I really hope they re-instate that waterfall and bring in some trees and foliage. IDK, it just seems kind of 'cheap' to leave it a grass field, especially when that spot had some pretty nice landscaping before construction.

As for the large footers, I think it would be even nicer then painting them if they themed them like Six Flags did for Tatsu:

I think it makes them look fancy.

Fixing how unsightly the floating footers appear shouldn't be too hard at all. I say, just plant some bushes in-front of the poles and problem solved, they now look like a normal footers.

Now how much of this the park actually does is another thing.

I agree that waterfall was beautiful and looked as if it belonged there on the hill.

Do you guys /seriously/ think that bolt is going to collapse with those footers?

But if the GP see it. Then they will be going and saying ITS GOING TO FALL DOWN DON'T RIDE IT! Then the media gets called and so on...

RE: Verbolten

I agree about the footers being ugly, but I don't think it's that big of a problem. They're probably structurally sound since they were designed by professionals. Also, when I look at a coaster, the footers are the last thing I look at. There's a beautiful coaster right there, so I think that as long as it's being held up, it doesn't matter if the footers are ugly. And in addition to being in a place where most people probably won't look, I don't think the GP will even LOOK at the footers. Half the time when I ride a coaster I don't even notice them.

EDIT: Though if the park were to do something about it, I think they should paint vines or something on them to make them look "Black Forest"-ish. And I wish they would paint the footers. I went to Kalahari Waterpark Resort this past fall, and I had to admit that I liked how they painted African things on the footers for the water slides. If Busch were to do that, I think it would make the ride look so much better, but I don't think it matters that much. If I were them, I actually wouldn't go through with it since it's such a big amount of money to spend on such a small problem.

RE: Verbolten

Shane was kind enough to provide us with some more Verbolten pictures. The main site post has been updated with them as well as a bunch of new text for you to read if you so desire. Link: http://bgwfans.com/?p=1678

RE: Verbolten

Just saw a piece on WVEC. Basically stating the cars were unveiled. But, it was not filmed yesterday. The bridge roof was not on and the green train was in the station. I think the park called them up to film. :D

RE: Verbolten

I was talking to this employee Saturday by verbolten, and she said the launch is 0-60 in 1.3 seconds. So is it 53 or 60 mph?

I'd avoid getting facts from random employees...

Lmao, you really think they are just held up?...lol...those "poles" are part of the footer and are most likely driven 20+ feet into the ground. Have people gone mad?

RE: Verbolten

yea, over on TPI, a report said that an employee told the author that there were six trains and they would only be able to run 3 trains at once.

You are right Dffan, they are and agree I with you. Now let's change the subject.

yea, over on TPI, a report said that an employee told the author that there were six trains and they would only be able to run 3 trains at once.
Another misinformed employee here that doesn't read what we and others are talking about.

RE: Verbolten

I would avoid employees in general, but the one guy I did talk to said Mach Tower was coming a year before it was announced :p

Beyond that one thing though, don't trust anyone walking around in the park.

RE: Verbolten

I challenge all of you to get in your car right now and drive 7 mph. That's the difference between the two speeds we're "worrying" about. Seriously. C'mon people--7 mph! IT'S NOT A BIG DIFFERENCE!
