RE: Verbolten

So this is my first post on the site, and I am proud to say I am a very loyal Busch Gardens (and Apollo's Chariot) fan. To start off, I would like to say I am actually impressed with the progress Verbolten is making. Though it is right now considered behind schedule, the track looks absolutely beautiful and the cars are sleek with style. To me, other new coasters like Leviathan and The Swarm might have a tough time getting the title of Coaster of the Year against this one. What I'm actually most interested in is the speed it will gain over the course of the ride. I'm hoping it won't be a head-banger like Flight of Fear at KD, but will pick up good acceleration too.

Welcome to the forums! I am glad to see another Apollo fan on here! I agree that V will be a definite contender for new ride of the year, but I think leviathan has a real good shot for it too (it combines my 2 favorite coasters, Apollo and millennium force)

RE: Verbolten

Ok, my anticipation level for Verbolten has just been boosted to a new high as I'm sure yours will as well. Ready?

Verbolten's theming is being done by a company known as Adirondack Studios. Who are they? Well, they're the company responsible for the theming in Busch Gardens Tampa's Jungala, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure's Dueling Dragons, and Universal Studios Orlando's Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, The Simpson's Ride, and the world famous indoor launch coaster, Revenge of the Mummy.

Let me just run that by you again. Williamsburg, Virginia is getting a multi-launch coaster themed by the same people who themed Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Orlando. I guess you have to put that $54 million into something.

Also, ivy, lots and lots of ivy.

EDIT: As Newsie pointed out they're also working with ThemeWorks who has did a lot of the theming for SeaWorld Orlando's and SeaWorld San Antonio's Journey to Atlantis rides, as well as the beautiful Treasures of Poseidon building at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.

RE: Verbolten

I bet the park purposely didn't pick a coaster enthusiast so they wouldn't be smart enough ask the good questions like "Did you really forget to add theming supports?" PS: Someone better get a picture of the bridge!!

RE: Verbolten

Honestly, the park treats the enthusists like crap. They never let us in special events and kiss the GP's ass. You know how much more hype we could build If they let one of us in! They really should have invited chris or swift.

Most of the amusement employees fail to spot an enthusiast until they come up to them asking questions, especially the managers of the Facebook pages.

Very much so, although security has been stalking me the past few times I've been at the park...

RE: Verbolten

Are you guys serious? A major and awesome revelation has been released and you're talking about how the park treats a bunch of nerds who make up a minority if their money?

RE: Verbolten

The whole marketing department need a good kick in the butt. This HHT could have been a huge almost free advertising event if they really did a small amount of planning. They are bound to know who has the most impact on their park in the social media world. Quietly send them a invite to a private event. Now if they wanted to build some hype from the public have a contest like they did and invite them too. But from what I can see they will recieve very little in return on this media event. Also they are taking a huge risk in letting just anyone in to live tweet a event like that. They should provide a press kit with approved photos to be used in the required Blogs (like thats going to happen). As far as the event building, this is still a construction site and the responsibilty of the Safety rep for the contractor. I believe they will be taken to parts of the park that the public has access to, the bridge to Italy, Bumper car station, and walkway to Festhause Park, shown the station house, some props that have yet to be installed and sent on their way. Maybe a peek at the coaster car but they will most likely not see the drop track, special effects, or anything else that has yet to be leaked.

RE: Verbolten

I want to get excited about the theming but I think I'll wait. The last time I got worked up about a coaster like this was when the Italian Job Stunt Track was revealed (the original concept art beckoned a Universal / Disney quality experience and after Tomb Raider The Ride, I half expected Kings Island to come through). We all know how that turned out. All the plans that have been posted on here have suggested that we'll be seeing cutouts in the show building and that's about all I expect. Grover's Alpine Express wasn't as detailed as the concept art and Europe in the Air was kind of half-assed, so I'm going to restrain my excitement. Hopefully they surprise me.

Also, I looked at the Adirondack Studios website and it appears from the descriptions of what they contributed to those attractions that they didn't do much (the giant Krusty head in front of The Simpsons Ride, the dragon sculptures at the entrance to Dueling Dragons, the giant mummy skull in Revenge of the Mummy, the cutouts for Nuthouse Coaster, etc.) If anything, it'll be a giant sculpture in the show building that they contribute (possibly like the skull in Revenge of the Mummy). As for ThemeWorks, they did Forest of Fun, which was essentially cutouts (people need to remember that a majority of Revenge of the Mummy is glow-in-the dark cutouts). I don't doubt what Busch Gardens is capable of, but I'm not sure this will be what many are expecting. I have a feeling this supposed $54 million price tag has put expectations exceedingly high.

RE: Verbolten

I'm in total agreement with Chris on how they picked the people for HHT. I guess the marketing department took the easy way out in picking the emails.

You saying they are growing ivy over the event building/tunnels? That'd be smart.

Ivy was something present in the concept artwork, it would be smart to use, it's cheap and gives an old, natural look. The facade of the event building will be themed as an old stone structure, so ivy will fit right in.

Stone structure? I thought i was going into the forest? :)

It looked like it was supposed to be an underpass for a bridge, the forest is on the other side I guess.

Just throwing something out there, but someone from TPR was nominated to do the hard hat tour. Click here

The theming was pretty impressive from one of the preview videos. Getting a company that did Universal's theming to do V-bolt's makes me even more excited about this ride.

I'm sure the park had a legit reason to pick the essays at random and if they actually read the essays, chances are some of the spelling/grammar mistakes were overlooked.

That aside, the park still
- Opened up the tour to more than one person so more people had a chance to win
- Gave them a once-in-a-lifetime chance to go backstage and see a coaster under construction
- Allowed them to take pictures/make status updates to the rest of us can get an insider's look

Not many parks are willing to do this because of safety concerns and copyright issues. Even then, the GP makes up 99% of the population that visits the park. No point in alienating most of your paying customers just to please a small segment of the population.

You guys are seriously whining about nothing.

EDIT: Just realized that last post was deleted.
