The issue has already been fully dealt with, no ride effects have been scrapped as far as I know.

maybe they'll install those Xenon Ultra headlights so they can blind everyone coming across the bridge.

There is no projector housing and I am sure you meant HIDs. Ultra Xenon is not any brighter, it just has a color tinted housing and that actually dims it a bit from what a Silverstart would be. HIDs from ANY sort of factory, coaster or car, would utilize a projector to prevent scattering for the beam. Scattering is why they appear so bright when you see them in cars, people buy cheap conversion kits for non-projetor housings so the beam scatters and you actually lose lighting at farther distances from the housing. On that note, I would be royally pissed if they used anything but old school el cheapo halogens that that era of car maintains.

Cheap conversion that could last a week- a year can be $50+ and a reliable $200+. Not to mention as I am sure you know, Chris, the conversions can burn up the harnesses inside of the vehicle if not wired for it at the factory and that is $$$$$.

I don't know anything about headlights other than replacing the HIDs in my car costs a lot. That's the extent of my knowledge.

Thankfully Halogens aren't on their way out yet, so BGW is good in terms of buying them for about 2-3 years. After that Halogens are supposed to be totally gone from commercial business except for private, direct purchases. In terms of what they should do I really want classic headlights from their era like Atlantis said, instead of using the latest and greatest lights.

Auto-lights will never be completely rid of Halogen as there is no direct effect from fuel efficiency to the type of headlight bulb used. Latest and greatest tech headlight bulbs cannot function in an adequate manner for all applications. Only certain vehicles that use halogen bulbs have a factory projector housing as well. You can use and HID conversion and get a proper beam but it still will wreak havoc on the vehicle's wiring. Use the below image as a reference for proper HID with projector housing vs standard halogen reflector housing. Being that the trains do not use projectors it is HIGHLY doubtful you will see anything but halogen, that is of course they use a fixed LED styling but that is a different topic.

Posting said image and that is enough for headlight discussion (applicable to everyday vehicles not Verbloated). If you wish to carry it on then feel free to create a thread in off-topic and I will be more than happy to partake in it when homework lightens this weekend.

Hello all, I've been away for awhile. I am going to try to take the family up there to go to BGW on March 30th so I can take advantage of the Here's to the Heros salute one more time before I'm offically retired from the Air Force. Is there any tenative opening date for Verbolten yet?

Ha this is an EXTENSIVE discussion just on headlights for a roller coaster, let's just assume there will be some LED's and move on...

Great looking trains, great looking ride, only a few months to go and we can stop speculating how far behind schedule it is, how justified the cost is, whether it's as good as a magic carpet ride to Heaven etc etc blah blah blah. :p

Just sit back, relax, and let BG work their magic. And I promise you, this ride will be a splendid experience if we don't rest our impressions on speculative ideas which may or may not tickle our roller coaster enthusiast fancies in just the right way.

With that said, I hope all of you sent in an email for the hard hat tour! Good Luck!

Back on the subject of trains: having a white train in a building full of black lights would be stupid. The train would glow and therefore ruin the dark atmosphere they are trying to replicate in the building. Also, I'm sure they don't want it to be apparent that there are black lights in there; it is the black forest not a night club.

Well since this ride is so heavily special effected, I think they are going to put in a ton of money to actually keep all the special effects going for a long while, unlike what happened with LNM :/

EDIT: Well actually, being an owner of a 4ft. black light, just because something glows from a black light doesn't mean it will loose a dark atmosphere. The area around the train will still appear dark. However, I understand what you mean, but how will that orange train look? Really any neon color, or even if it isn't neon can still glow from a black light. True, it wouldn't be as bright, but still it could glow. As far as letting the effect be known, well, it will be obvious that the black lights are there, its just ho they use them, and they could use them to light the trains up and still give an eerie, dark feeling. Also, I am interested to see how the effects work during the day? From the looks of the building with the entrances around the bottom of the walls, would that light affect the ride or will they install doors?

I highly doubt black lights will be used.

They don't use them to create a night scene in a play or movie...

Black lights would be better used for Fiends... :rolleyes:

Black lights will be used, mostly because they can help create a dark fantasy forest. That and they look wicked on coasters :p

Anything is possible, all you have to do is believe, lol, so I believe there will be black lights, so there should be :D

It's awesome that a new coaster will be up and running. I'm really excited about a new experience, but I think we will all
be grateful that another attraction (esp. as big as Verbolten) will pull a good portion of traffic away from some of the other attractions.

Germany is gonna be bumpin' this summer!
