RE: Verbolten

My guess for an official opening date is May 18th or 19th.

That sounds about right if you ask me, although I would actually say the 25th (the Friday of Memorial Day weekend). They opened Griffon on May 25th of 2007 (again the Friday of Memorial Day weekend) and planned on Mach Tower to be open that weekend last year as well. It seems like Memorial Day weekend is a strategy for Busch and here is my theory:

Some families from out of town may go to Busch the first weekend it opens with a one-day pass and see this brand new shiny coaster testing. There will be posters all around it saying that it will be opening soon (maybe they will specify Memorial Day weekend) so that they spark interest for another visit over that long weekend. Maybe the family will decide to go the cheap route and buy multi-day tickets so they can go everyday if they plan a trip that long weekend. That way they could go ride that new coaster all they want.

I know that the Memorial Day weekend has only been tradition for two times now and it's not much to base things off of, but it still seems like a better marketing strategy for Busch.

RE: Verbolten

When I made my last post I was playing off of the stereotype of carnival rides being unsafe. I wasn't being realistic. That was one of the few things that made it an extreme exaggeration. Also, I am sure the park has their own set of safety standards, that probably exceeds those standards of the government and other parks.

With the opening day of any major ride, there are only a handful of days to do it in Spring, depending on your strategy. For example, you can open the ride on a usually "dead" day in hopes to bring in a higher attendance. You could open the ride on a usually "packed" day in hopes to increase attendance even more. If you choose the second, the most likely dates would be Preview Day, Opening Day, Spring Break, and Memorial Day weekend.

RE: Verbolten

Back when they announced the ride (2010), I marked that day as the opening of the ride (5/25/12) in my phone... What would be the odds of that actually being the opening date?!

RE: Verbolten

I agree that Memorial Day weekend will be the weekend as well. That's one reason why our coaster club moved the date from April to June. But, does anyone think they will do a soft opening in May?

RE: Verbolten

Either way, i'm going with the 25th. It would be completely ironic though, being that it would be EXACTLY 5 years after the Griffon.

Take that cedar point (seeing is the last coaster they built was in 2007)

EDIT: fixed the quote's "the griffon" part to griffon

RE: Verbolten

And on that note, I really hope the Verbolten has a different ride experience with the different trains. Not too different, but slight subtleties. I don't think it would be too labor intensive to achieve this, but unfortunately, I doubt it will happen.

Insider tips for Verbolten

on the bgw official website when you go to Verbolten's actual ride page and click insider tip it says "pay special attention as you walk through the queue line". what does that mean, anyone know? if this has already been brought up before i apologize :)

RE: Insider tips for Verbolten

It just means their queue line is extremely detailed, nothing too special. It has been there for weeks.

RE: Verbolten

Other than music RnR maintains the same elements throughout the ride. What is the big deal if they are the same?

RE: Insider tips for Verbolten

I think it means that's the only way you're going to know what's going on. They want you to get the story so instead of making a dedicated effort to show it to you on the ride, the story will be fleshed out in the queue. Aaannndddd in 2 years when the line is short everyone will skip it and wonder why they're in a car barreling through the forest.
