RE: Verbolten

We all know Verbolten.com has been taken, this is the guy that registered it: http://twitter.com/#!/esvadj

^Not likely, VerboltenCoaster.com is still up for grabs, but GriffonCoaster.com was originally registered on 7/21/2006 see.

Yeah well griffon didn't cost $50 million, or was built in this bad of a recession... Face it, bgw is going to get as much money as they can any legal way they can... Plus, this ride is supposed to open in march/April, so if we see a teaser site, it will be after people can get the qr code (after christmastown)

A domain name cost less than 10 bucks. If they can't afford 10 bucks then they are in some serious trouble, and they would have registered it long before they would have announced the name to keep someone else from getting it.

RE: Verbolten

I am not saying they cannot afford a domain name, but they can get so much more money by making people go into the park instead of giving the info on a website

RE: Verbolten

Honestly I think the QR codes are just dumb. They're great when used correctly- as a supplement to actual information, but putting a QR code up on a wall just doesn't work. How about this: Put up a sign that gives information about the ride and then put a small QR code at the bottom corner of said sign with an explanation of how to use it because, lets face it, a good chunk of the GP doesn't have any idea what they are. Furthermore, give a simple URL to visit for those without smartphones. Said URL should take the user to a page that includes construction pictures, concept art, construction videos, teaser videos, etc. Whoever is running the current (terribly flawed) "social media campaign" needs to rethink their strategy because what does the GP know about Verbolten? Nothing.

19 out of 20 people have no idea what a QR code is, if not more. I am up to my neck in technology and do not use them. When they first came out I used one to see how they worked. I have not used one since.

RE: Verbolten

yeah they are definately a horrible idea. i think Canada's Wonderland is doing the best at marketing their 2012 coaster. bgw should watch them, as well as dollywood.

RE: Verbolten

Bg is trying out different kinds of social media... I doubt they will use this again... Btw, we are approximately 5 months away from the opening from this ride!!!

In my opinion if they were planning to experiment they should not have done it with a project this large or with so much invested. Mach Tower might have been a better choice ( barring what we know now about the delays).

RE: Verbolten

Oh well, we can speculate as much as we want to about why bg used qr codes, but the reality is they are not at this point making a teaser site and we want one

RE: Verbolten

Well if you think about it, a lot of people didn't know about Mach Tower until it wasn't running...

RE: Verbolten

Maybe because they failed with Mach Tower's advertisement as well. Look at how Dollywood has unveiled Wild Eagle- they've done it right.

RE: Verbolten

I'm not an expert, but it looks like they might be working on the drop section over the Rhrine. A picture that was posted by BG's fb page looks like it would be coming from that section.

^Are you talking about this pic?

If so it looks like it was taken from the San Marco/Oktoberfest bridge.
