RE: Verbolten

Anyone here have a pilot's license? I remember some aerial photos of Griffon during construction that were absolutely stunning (courtesy Dan Haddock, via BGEscape)

I was actually wondering the same thing. I posted to their Facebook wall yesterday asking if they were going to be doing any aerial coverage during the off-season like they did with Griffon.

the overall site plans show five trains in the station, holding brakes, and final brake run. that should never happen, so i'm just curious why they would do that.

That is showing a stack... Have you ever ridden apollo during a three train day and you stopped very suddenly? That is when all of the blocks are filled and the computer won't let the train go any further... You can't really tell a stack on griffon or alpengist, but I have been told that a stack on LNM requires maintenance to show up

RE: Verbolten

Well they only run two trains even on some packed days to avoid that stacking.

And yes maintenance needed to show up the last time the ride stacked while I was at the park (which was 2009).

RE: Verbolten

Okay, yeah i've not experienced a stack at bgw, but have experienced one on maverick, expedition everest, and space mountain. The space mountain stack was horrible because I was at the base of the lift, and therefore second to last to be let out of the ride.

Huh, last time I saw it stack (08) they just kept it going. Maintenance was nowhere to be found.

RE: Verbolten

It's LNM only, just because there is only room for 1 train outside of the station, not 2 so the computer (yes even LNM has a computer) stops it on the 2nd lift, requiring maintenance to fix it... [rant] BTW, i know a guy who used to work @ Apollo and he said that they have to run 3 trains when 18000 people are expected/at the park... it may be 17000, but he said they will still run 2 trains... and if you say they were running 2 trains earlier in they season and there were defiantly over 18000 people in the park, it's b/c one train was out of commission because it needed it's harnesses replaced (the red harnesses had cracked, exposing the foam inside them) [rant/over]

Ah, she be a fickled mistress then. ;)

Also being stuck on a stacked Alpengiest train for about 10 minutes is not fun. My legs were killing me for the rest of the day.

Not to mention yellow jackets like to frequent that area.

Like how we tend to frequent sidebars in this thread.

Would that happen to feel similar to being stuck on manta for 15 minutes?

RE: Verbolten

Being stuck on a flyer would suck more than a standup... Only thing I can think worse than that is not stapling yourself in on a flyer.

RE: Verbolten

It depends which stand up. Being stuck in a Togo has got to be way worse than a b&m, and in my opinion worse than stuck in a flyer. However, I was stuck on mantis for 10 minutes, and to be honest, it's worse when the train is moving.

RE: Verbolten

My first time @ cedar point, I rode mantis first thing and I was barely walking off the ride! Back on topic, Chris care to share anything? Any plans of inbetween the station and building, building and bridge, or bridge and station? Thx

RE: Verbolten

As far as normal track goes (not brakes, launches, etc.), all we really have are the two first pictures here. Remember, these are technical drawings, the more complex a section of the ride is, the more we'll have on it.
