RE: Verbolten

I went looking and it would seem that using two strips of 'em isn't all that uncommon. Gerstlauer uses two on the new launched Eurofighters and Mack put two on Blue Fire.

RE: Verbolten

Could these fins be for the drive motors that move the train in and out of the station? Also there will be magnetic breaks to slow the train so these could be for that too. I'm fairly confident there is only on row that is for the launches.

RE: Verbolten

It might be part of the track before the drop over the Rhine. Isnt that thing on the side of the track a walking platform? Thats the only place I could think of.

But Blue Fire's aren't centered like on the Euro Fighters. They are placed off to the left on the launch. As seen in this video.

Also we can't tell exactly how thick the magnets are supposed to be. But the more magnets placed together makes for an even stronger magnet; so that should mean that it might be able to accelerate the train even faster than what ScoutN said. Possibly anywhere from 2.2 to 2.5 seconds which is definitely high, high end sports cars numbers for 0-60 (yes I am thinking that they're engineering this ride to feel like your driving a sports car).

The numbers that I crunched put it anywhere from 194-225 feet. Yeah my guess was really off, lol. But that distance is actually pretty good, it is about the same as a high end Rally Car (they have a 0-60 around like three seconds give or take, 4WD).

Rally cars are insane...

RE: Verbolten

I think it would evenly distribute the stress throughout the car with 2 fins vs 1. It may prolong the life of the ride vehicle. That's just a personal guess.

RE: Verbolten

Good point, Gavin. IMO it looks like the dual setup provides a bit more initial torque.. errr thrust I guess would be a more applicable term. It takes off kinda quick in the first segment.

No, that really wouldn't matter. Nothing is coming in direct contact with the fins. No friction is the bless with the design. Not if it was the system that RnR uses then you'll see multiple catapult mounting point.

It could also be patent related. I would love to go and dig through all the patent databases, to see if that's the case, but I'm on a phone right now.

RE: Verbolten

There's no such thing as a waste of a coaster, Sure it might be poorly themed (aka Griffon), Insanely rough (Okay, i just realize that invertigo at kings island is a lot rougher than Alpie, Good thing i saw that pov), or just poorly executed(aka Drachen Fire). Still there's no such thing as a waste of a coaster, as, a coasters a coaster, weither we like it or not, its our opinion.

RE: Verbolten

What im saying is that why don't they put in a launch coaster like hypersonic xlc or something thrilling and less for kids and it don't matter about theming what park has won the worlds most beautiful park for 13 years? Busch gardens williamsburg virginia.

We need something thrilling like top thrill dragster for instance. And busch gardens still holds the title of worlds most beautiful park. So dont complain about the theming.

BBW was a family coaster. Verbolten is replacing BBW. So Verbolten is going to be a family coaster. The park is filling a gap in their collection, and isn't looking to appease thrill seekers, but families.

No.

No. Ambience > thrilling coaster.

Not to mention. A top thrill style coaster would not even make it to the JCC board. Better yet, Busch is not dumb enough to consider even submitting that.

This.

Seriously, I can't believe people are still arguing this point. If you want TTD moved to BGW, start a thread named "I Want TTD Moved to BGW" then you and anyone else who thinks this is a good idea can talk about it all you want there instead of spamming up the Verbolten thread.

RE: Verbolten

...I think some people are going to be surprised how well it appeases thrill-seekers as well as families, actually.

A good family coaster appeases everyone. That's one of the things that people rave about with Dragon's Fury. Never have I known another ride impress kids and adults so equally. Kids come off feeling like they've conquered a big coaster and adults come off laughing with surprise.

I'm always confused when BGW fans talk about their coasters as being for thrill seekers. BGW doesn't have a single proper thrill coaster, because it's a family park. Griffon, Alpengeist, Apollo... Not thrilling, in the slightest. Amazing rides, yes... but not thrilling. For some reason, Sheikra and Oblivion even more so are ten times as thrilling as Griffon. Alpengeist's long drawn out inversions are incredibly tame compared to say, the Batman coasters. Apollo is my favourite of the B&M megacoasters, but ALL the B&M megacoasters are tame. Their height restrictions and the scale of them are the only intimidating factors. In fact, I bet (though I didn't get to ride it) BBW was the most scary and intense ride there. If you want thrills, go to KD. I mean come on, BGW even bought a tame drop tower... The world's scariest ride type.
