RE: Verbolten

Agreed, Michael. In 1990, B&M created Iron Wolf, a ride that drew applause from fans over the announcement of its removal this year, and two years later invented the inverted roller coaster known as Batman: The Ride and became the coaster sensation of the 90s. Zierer actually has experience to back what they're doing, they just haven't done a ton in America. Yet.

RE: Verbolten

Swift, looks like you deleted your post, but here you go: Intamin didn't give Busch what they wanted. They took a risk, but with a company with a VERY good track record for drop towers. Those technical errors sucked, but it was BY NO MEANS Busch's fault. It's like buying a Toyota which has a very high reliability only to have your car recalled in a freak manufacturing issue. It's not YOUR fault for buying a Toyota instead of, say, a Ford.

You never addressed the fact that B&M and Arrow both never built the kind of ride Busch has until it was built at Busch. Why should Zierer be any different?

Busch IS doing a great job minus hiccups. Christmas town, flat rides, Illuminights, Hallowscream, strong coaster additions, investment into park infrastructure, investment into revitalization of old areas, short term rapid expansion, more opportunities for families, revamped and improved shows, and all without raising ticket prices.

The only real issues I see you having is with Zierer, not choosing Intamin (which would have resulted in a "KD" drop tower or Intamin going into untreaded territory and taking a risk which you seem to hate), and an isolated area of the park that is extremely popular and cutely integrated into BGW lore.

Cheer up buddy. Think from a marketing perspective and leave your old-fashioned nostalgia behind. The park is evolving but is still in-line with its brand promise.

Zierer is going to do a good job on this. It will be a worthy addition.

No one said it wasn't. It was said there was not enough evidence to confirm. Skewed memory?

Remember Scoresman, I am the expert you should listen to :p

I kid, I kid.

I just thought that name was FAR too perfect to not be it.

RE: Verbolten

I feel Zierer doesn't want to screw this one up. They've had some coasters built in the US over the last decade-and-a-half and I believe this is their breakthrough time.

RE: Verbolten

is this thread about Verbolten yet?

in my opinion this is going to be bg's version of expedition Everest. At least that's the closest I can think of. Heavily themed queue warning you about what lies ahead. Some stuff goes wrong, unfortunately no giant yeti, but we can only be so lucky. I'm extremely excited that the restraints are just lap bars. I'm very happy they appear to be focusing on story and thematic elements in the queue. That's what always set Disney and universal apart for me.

In an attempt to get this thread back on track...

With the story being you take a wrong turn into the forest, anybody else think there could be a false track that looks like it's leading away from the event house?

I was wondering about that myself. In the teaser it has the lightning strike that makes the car veer off course, so I wonder what will happen to make the car head toward the Black Forrest?

RE: Verbolten

Anyone ever ridden in a Zierer coaster train? Is it comfy or like the back car of Nessie. :p

With all these turns and launch effects, I hope they've employed some wiggle room for adults, not just semi-youngsters.

Can I just say I'm so excited Busch is getting new rides somewhat regularly now, and every not 6-7 years like in the years of Apollo?

RE: Verbolten

If there is a false track, I hope it's not obvious that it's fake. The general public should'n't be able to say on their first ride,
"Hey, look at that fake track over there!"

RE: Verbolten

How would the animatronics hold up to the weather though? It would have to be pretty durable for the changing Va weather. I was thinking about a Do Not Enter gate across the track that the car would "crash" through but the same thing would apply to that too.
Very excited about this ride!
Do you think there will be on board speakers for sound effect in the event building?

RE: Verbolten

If they can make animatronic dinosaurs that can withstand hurricanes in Florida, they can make a tree fall over in Virginia with a certain amount of reliability. The gate crashing would be a good effect, especially if they did it at the drop.

I wouldn't rule on board audio out.

RE: Verbolten

^On board audio, doubt it. Mounted speakers in the event building, definitely. They mentioned something about audio at the announcement, and if you look at one of the plan photos, you can see in the entrance tunnel there is a section labeled "mounted speaker."

RE: Verbolten

I would rather have mounted speakers. On-board audio generally experiences a lot of technical difficulty, and they won't take a train off the track just to fix the speakers, so you ride for the rest of the day with no sound, like X2. Or sometimes, the ride itself is so loud that you can't hear the speakers anyway. Though that usually happens on woodies; I've never understood speakers on a wooden coaster.

Bizarro @ Great Adventure is horrible for on-ride speakers. You can barely hear any audio once you begin that first drop.

RE: Verbolten

^Plus, especially with Mach Tower, there is a lot of electrical interference when it comes to sound on rides. Lets just hope the audio effects aren't as bad/cheesy as Mach Tower's.

...and it's been that way since it opened; not a fan. Then again, they're horrible with maintenance there in general...
