RE: Verbolten

Okay Swift (and anyone else really). Here's the deal. Griffon is a very strong addition to the park. It doesn't NEED a ton of theming. In fact, it has about the same amount as Apollo's which you love (excuse me, a circus tent for a Greek God? Ummm....iffy sir). It's a great ride that everyone enjoys and something very unique. Griffon is a strong addition and everyone gets the theory of being a Griffon, diving down. How could you POSSIBLY demand a highly themed addition and then fault Verbolten. Sure the logo sucks, but it's without a doubt a HIGHLY themed ride. What the hell do you want!?

Additionally, Mach Tower is a really good addition as well. If you thought a drop tower would completely change the park instead of just be a good addition to hold people over until a new ride then I would say that you don't know what you're talking about. The issues with that ride are NOT Busch's fault and it will be an anchor for that area and is one of those GREAT FLAT RIDES YOU GUYS KEEP SAYING BUSCH NEEDS. The theming for it is actually pretty brilliant. May Pole in Germany? Classic. They hit an unfortunate snag, but the ride will continue to round out Busch's ride options.

Oh, and guess what's REALLY popular with kids that's WAY better than a freaking petting zoo? yeah. that's right. Elmo land. There are actually some very cute references to Europe in there that again helps to round out Busch's appeal. Elmo is pretty isolated in its little corner and why the hell would you care anyways? IT'S NOT FOR YOU. I have no idea what you're talking about the theming in there. There are references to Lochness AND Alpengeist albeit under the sponsorship of Elmo.

The only two REAL mistakes Busch has made are EITA and letting DarKastle go to sh**. I'll give you those. But saying that MT, Elmo, and Griffon are poor choices is absolutely wrong. The marketer in me is screaming out at you in frustration.

To bring this back to Verbolten, it's a highly themed, medium sized coaster that fills the niche BBW left with its removal. If they built a fricking Giga you'd complain they're trying to copy KD. If they built a flyer you'd say you hate flyers. If they built a new suspended ride you'd say it's disrespectful to the BBW. If it wasn't highly themed you'd hate it like you hate Griffon. Now that it is themed you can't find anything nice to say about it?

You beg for a wider assortment of rides but criticize the inclusion of a flat ride you've been clamoring for.
You plead for better coaster variety and get a launch coaster with an awesome first I'm SURE you've never experienced.
You say Busch needs more kid-focused theming but hate a part of the park that's extremely popular with families.

Bottom line. Busch is doing a GREAT job minus the EITA hiccup and factors out of their control.

Stop. Whining.

RE: Verbolten

I can't seem to find a decent Zierer coaster on rcdb.com, they all look like kiddie coasters. This is a little disappointing.

Because companies just magically have their "firsts." They are in no way shape or form designed and built for a first time. Come on. Really?

Search harder!

RE: Verbolten

I never post, but I just wanted to thank Carter for his post. Instead of a great information thread about Verbolten, this has just turned into a big bash and whining fest. Get over it people. We are getting a great ride in 2012 that is going to equal Big Bad Wolf's value. I understand what Big Bad Wolf was to people, believe me it was my first roller coaster.

People don't realize that we are about to get a ride that could be found at a Disney or Universal park. These two park chains are the higher tier in American parks. If you want a story attached to a themed thrill ride then go to those either two parks. Busch Parks are a level below Disney and Universal along with Dollywood, Kennywood, Hershey Park, and Holiday World. Maybe there are more in this tier, open to suggestions. These parks fall in the middle tier in American parks. Busch Parks, Dollywood, Hershey Park, Kennywood, and Holiday world offer great rides in a great family friendly environment. Busch was never a master mind on theming. A lot of people have already given examples to that, it has just declined in the past. These middle tier parks are also beautifully landscaped, and also have great locations. Below middle tier parks you can find Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks that just care about the rides and make a lackluster effort on the story and theme. Some people just prefer the thrill, and I don't blame them. I have always craved a little of both. I have worked at Walt Disney World through the College Program so I know how much detail can go in one ride.

People need to start getting excited about Verbolten. I think this is going to put Zierer on the map. I am very impressed with Wicked, and I see a good future for Zierer. I am personally getting tired of B&M coasters. They are a great company but it's not the 90's and 00's anymore. I just recently rode a B&M flyer for the first time and didn't really care for it. They are kinda like one trick pony's with the pretzel loop. Same thing with the Drop Coasters. They are just one trick pony's, but I still love me some Griffon don't get me wrong. I think the new wing rider coaster is a step up for B&M, and hopefully it will put them on track for this decade. Intamin to me is the new leader in steel coaster design, and I would love to see Busch Williamsburg work with them. Cheetah Hunt is awesome. Sorry for the rant. Just appreciate what we are getting people. This is a big invesment.

P.s. I love Mach Tower, and it has really equaled out my visit at Busch Gardens.

No need to put Carter's great post down like that (Swift, ArrowWolf).

"FYI: My post is directed to Sky's, not Carter's. "

FYI, that post just made my head burst. My name is Carter also. So like right now i can't even read the thread without getting confused.

And don't say Carter G cause g is my last initial too.

Sky

Umm... okay... fine. The post was directed to Skyrider's post and not CarterGee's post. We address people by their aliases and not their first names.

^^Do you want the world's smallest violin with that?

As a family coaster, imo, Verbolten will be fine. I just hate the name and logo.

I would prefer a soapbox.

Thanks for you insightful contribution.

Thank you Expoman. It's really frustrating. You should post more often and welcome :)

Spaceheater, from what I can see on the POVs, yes.

I was thinking excellent post, this one. Then I read this and understood why.

Chime in a bit more often.

What about the smoothness of the track? Are they good at this?

What about a beer company building a theme park?

Surely that was seen as crazy.

Really?

You need to look at this one:
Wicked @ Lagoon

Intamin made small steps into the coaster industry, too. The first ride they built was at Cedar Point wayyyyyyyyyyy back in '79 and look at where they are now. I don't care what people say about it but when a manufacturer has two of its coasters hold the Golden Ticket for #1 steel in the world for 11 years straight they're doing something right. Their famous pre-fab woodie El Toro also squeaked in for #3 in woods, losing to only Voyage and Phoenix.

And you really need to look much much harder at that list of Zierer's rides. There's over 120 of them. It sounds like you just looked at the first two pages and said "oh this company only builds kiddee coasters."
----------------------------------------
Also they're not releasing the POV's. Marketing at it's finest, all you have to do is build suspense.

RE: Verbolten

Thanks, didn't see Wicked. Is stegel the designer of Verbolten as well? They do indeed design good tracks!

RE: Verbolten

Stengel

This is Stengel's RCDB page. He apparently designs every coaster made by an international company (Intamin, B&M, Vekoma, even Zierer and Pinfari for lols). I guess the way it goes in Europe is "Have this group design it, and we'll build it."

RE: Verbolten

Wicked is really the only big Zierer ride I'm familiar with, aside from their junior coasters.

I really find it ironic that people began complaining, then others complained about the complaining, and now we have complainers about the people complaining about the complaining. People want to complain so much, they've dragged things that are irrelevant into the conversation just to complain about them. We all know EiTA sucks, let's quit the complaining. Like I said earlier, there's no use in complaining about a ride that no one has ever ridden.

Wow, I outdid my "announcement" post on that one.

I agree with CarterGee, people are always going to complain, but I always enjoyed posting on this site because it wasn't as bad as other fan sites for other parks. CarterGee, I totally agree with your post(s); Busch knows what they are doing, they've obviously done enough right to make all of us fans. While I'm not a huge fan of Griffon, you cannot deny that it was a great addition to the park. In 2007, it's exactly what BGW needed, and in 2012, Verbolten is exactly what BGW needs. So let's just sit back, discuss the actual ride, which hasn't been done for pages, and wait until we get a chance to ride it. And then, if it does suck, we can judge it fairly and claim that we always knew BGW was a terrible park and claim that we can manage a multi-park operation better than the people in charge, but until then, can't we be reasonable? :)
