RE: Verbolten

I'm waiting until they give out an official ride video of Verbolten to throw in my official two cents. So far I don't really like the name, but hey it's better than "Gotham City Gauntlet: Escape from Arkham Asylum." I wouldn't go dissing the colors or anything else yet, but the advertising campaign for this (the video linked with "why you shouldn't drive through the Black Forest") is rather unique and definitely would keep the attention of quite a few people. I'm still wondering if it will have a Wolf reference anywhere during the ride because that would be a nice easter egg during the ride.

Too late for me, bro. :-/

RE: Verbolten

I'm hoping that what the ride lacks in thrills (i.e. not being BBW), it will make up with special effects and scenery.

RE: Verbolten

Alrighty then, time for some objective observations...

Firstly, I'm stoked for Verbolten. It introduces a different take on the roller coaster experience we are used to enjoying at BG, now for a wider audience. I think both adults, kids, and seasoned enthusiasts alike will enjoy this ride (Heck,I'm 24, and after I've ridden the big ones repeatedly, I'm not ashamed that I head over to Grover's Alpine Adventure for a laugh or two:p). Fact is, many, many kids can't handle Alpengeist, shy away from Griffon's 1st drop, and have a hard time with Apollo by the time the Helix comes up. Loch Ness is acceptable, but after that, the coaster experience for them is over. Yes Kings Dominion has a few rides similar to Verbolten in its *perceived* intensity (Back Lot Stunt Coaster), offset by several other major attractions like Intimidator, but Busch only has 4 other "biggies" and then Verbolten, so it makes the announcement of Verbolten and its stats seem somewhat underwhelming considering the other options we have.

Secondly, until I see an animated video of the entire ride, or even ride it for the first time, I'll gladly not flood this forum with complaints. SFA in Maryland is getting a heavily used, "New for 1991 B&M Standup," renamed and rethemed, and while cool in it's own right, is a recycled effort. We are getting a heavily themed, one-of-a-kind, all new installment that will surely gain attention from a wide variety of people. There is always 2013 and beyond of the B&M Flyer, B&M Wing Coaster, or an unknown "enthusiasts" coaster that will ease the "pain" of the 53mph Verbolten. This ride has potential, both to be amazing or underwhelming, just like MT or EiTA, but until we are strapped in the seat, with thumbs up in the air, and the green "Go" button flashing on the podiums in April 2012, we are lingering aimlessly in the roller coaster pipe dream of little to no information to form an educated opinion.

Lastly, I actually like the logo, the name, and the suffix of "Brave the Black Forest." Afterall, we could have been give "Uber Bahn," "Black Forest Turbo" or NOTHING for 2012 except a new stuffed animal whack-a-mole stand and let MT be the latest attraction for a whole season.

I for one, will gladly grin and bear Verbolten on that hopefully sunny day in April. Let the teaser site leaks begin!

RE: Verbolten

Props for referencing Back Lot, while it's not my favorite coaster at KD, it's actually pretty fun for a smaller coaster. I think it's going to be a bit more intense than Back Lot with the drop though.

Ew, guys.....really? the whole thing is AWFUL.....and it actually probably will just be slapped on there.

Im definately sure it will be just slapped on there considering all the other theming that they are doing to the ride! What makes the logo any different? Nothing.

I really think it will be too, at least its a 2x launched, 53mph ride and not a lift hill with a small drop that brings it to 53...plus there's that pesky event building;)

Ohh c'mon Carter! No love for the 'Bolten? :p

What? You're not feeling the "unbridled enthusiasm?"

RE: Verbolten

I think the logo is too plain. Also unless we get more info regarding the theming between now and the opening, We can guess this ride will not have a mascot. I'm guessing the "Defy The Five" esque marketing is over. Or we are going to see BGW T-Shirts with Nessie, a Yeti, Appolo, a Griffon, ... and a shield... or possibly a generic red sports car.

RE: Verbolten

Quick question, and I'm not trying to make waves, since I haven't been on the site in quite some time now (college gets in the way). But are ANY of you satisfied with ANYTHING that comes out of that park? I've been reading posts like these for what seems like three years now?! EitA is a joke, I'll give you that one, Mach Tower was a waste of time to the majority of you, and this, in your eyes, is a glorified grover's alpine express. Do any of you actually hear yourselves, and read your posts? In the past ten pages I have, at most, read 10 posts complimenting the park and it's new project.

Well here's one more compliment.

I think this will be a wonderful asset to the park. Mach Tower filled the void between thrilling flat and a coaster, and this will fill the void of a re-ride-able coaster for the entire family.

You guys constantly joke on those "enthusiasts" who claim they know that the ride will be 80 mph and 300 ft tall, but what is so pathetic is the fact that your posts make it sound like that is what you wanted in the first place. Busch Gardens is creating an experience, take it or leave it.

And when you all get a bachelor's in graphic design, then come back and slander it, because right now you're all whining about something that the people who will enjoy this experience won't care about, and that is the park's demographic.

End of rant

And to those who will find fault with all of this, I'm saying what the park would more than likely say.

RE: Verbolten

I actually really like the lightning shield logo, but agree that the rest of it is mediocre. But, maybe it will be mounted onto a cool background thing like Griffon's logo; Griffon's logo wouldn't be near as cool looking without the awesome lighting and background.

AMEN X 10.
I'm worried that even if we did get a 300 ft tall giga, the complaining would center on it being an Intamin, B&M, or "not themed enough." :p

RE: Verbolten

IMO the park has made some poor choices in the recent years (DarKastle...Kinda, Griffon, and EITA).

I don't think Mach Tower was a poor choice...and I don't think Verbolten will be either.

How was Griffon a poor choice??

1.) It was a 90% clone of SheiKra which I think is an overall better coaster.

2.) It was not innovative in any way.

3.) It was billed to be the 'best new thing' at BGW, yet Apollo's Chariot is still superior.

In my opinion that 15+ million dollars could have been spent on a MUCH more innovative, exciting, and overall better coaster.

I would have to disagree on it being a poor choice, simply because it improved on an already excellent ride (Sheikra), was actually the 1st coaster in the world with 10-across seating (innovative), is the only dive Coaster in VA, and your comparison of AC to Griffon is very subjective I'm afraid, seeing as the two coasters are quite different in type, and Griffon came nearly 8 years after AC, which does make it the best "new" thing they received at the time, seeing as nothing else was built between 1999-2007.

Verbolten, I agree with you, will not be a poor choice, but Griffon may not necessarily need to be lumped into the underwhelming arena of Europe in the Awful.
