RE: Verbolten

The events are randomized, but only to an extent. The ride never shows the same event twice in a row (this is coming from experience with repeat rides).

The "moon box" can be seen on all rides. Everything before the first brake run in the building is the same for all the rides. Once you hit the brake run, you'll hear a sound effect giving you a preview of what you're gonna get.
- Spirit calls you
- Wolf howl
- Thunder crack

The show doesn't change depending on which train you get.

I have been a HUGE fan of all roller coasters since childhood and usually make the comment that it wasn't enough...until Saturday. The post above exactly describes my experience. The most unfortunate design choice was a free fall event prior to a launch...add to this the disorienting dark and this is a ride waiting for a problem. I have been suffering a headache and nausea since the ride. I will not ride it again and I will not recommend the ride.

Keep your head against the headrest or keep your neck stiff and it isn't a problem. At most, your head will just tap the headrest a couple times.

RE: Verbolten

People talk about keeping their head back on that second launch, but for me, it is much more effective to lean forward into it. That also helps me after the drop on the river; you dont get whipped around as much.

Let's be realistic....
It's a LAUNCH coaster.... the forces involved are much stronger than ones neck. That should be known before you get on a LAUNCH coaster.

Cheetah Hunt is insanely smooth by comparison - it's incredible.

If I didn't know any better I would think I was riding a B&M coaster with Cheetah Hunt. Of course they don't make launch coasters anymore after the Incredible Hulk at IoA. I think Cheetah Hunt is so smooth because it has such a long layout. It's 3/4 of a mile long. With Verbolten, unfortunately they didn't have as much space so the transitions were more jerky. All in al though, I think Verbolten is a great ride, and the minor "roughness" doesn't bother me, so I hope to see Busch Gardens pursuing for more attractions of its standard of theming in the future.

RE: Verbolten

I'm with By-Tor, I hate keeping my head against the headrest, that's headache inducing. Not just with V'Bolt, with everything. Typically I lean forward and move with the ride. I know I'm unusual in this respect, but I don't think it coincidence that I'm one of the few people who never moans about Intamin's OTSRs. Well, for some reason on Rita it's terrible unavoidable neck slamming, but never had an issue with anything else. Not Intimidator prior the change, not Kanonen, not Maverick.

And hi, I've still not finished my Verbolten review. Lots of stuffs been happening since I got home. NotreallythatsahugelieI'mjustlazy.

RE: Verbolten

I've never had any problems with keeping my head back during the launches. Of course, having your head back during the indoor portions and the drop will cause problems because those transitions are very snappy. Second launch is a bit problematic, but I just lean forward a bit and keep my back straight. Keeping your head back just causes your head to tap the headrest a couple times, which isn't really a bad feeling, but annoying.

I've kept my head back during CH's launch and that didn't give me any problems either. Of course I just move my body with the coaster, just like all the other launch coasters I've ridden.

B&M didn't even make the launch for Hulk, they contracted someone else to do it. So they never even made one!

They are (B&M) Supposedly hard at work designing their own concept of the ride. It will certainly be interesting to see their take on all the pitfalls of launched coasters.

I hate to possibly be the jerk here but it seems like this conversation on headbanging on Verbolten has really circled around on itself and is continuing to do so.

It's utterly amazing how many people think that's fresh news. The rumor itself is over 4 years old now, and has been going on longer than the wing rider concept.

How does Hulk, it's launch system, and B&M designing launches have anything to do with Verbolten? 0.o

Excellent question. It is one that will not be answered in this thread, however. No more talks of B&Ms and their launches, please.
