While it’s time isn’t now, I still see no reason to believe that Tidal Force isn’t the next major attraction at Hershey to bite the dust

Thing with Hershey is their timeline moves in very weird ways. Rumors of Tidal Wave's demise have been ongoing since like 2019, but either Hershey hasn't found the right opportunity or the right ride to replace it, yet.

Not that I consider it a major ride, but Skyview has also been down for a while. I wouldn't be shocked to see it go, either. It's looked like this for weeks:

I really hope they don't take it out. It's not a transportation sky ride, but it's still fun and relaxing. Though I also hope it doesn't just sit there dormant. It's a shame they aren't operating it.

They should take TF down. Even when it’s up its ridership is kinda low outside the absolute worst days.

And I’ve given this hot take: Fahrenheit should move in the park. That with their maintenance department being relocated to new land they own would give a new pathway to the Midway and so much real estate to the Boardwalk.

Heck that would let them do two gates if they really wanted to. Boardwalk back is a new park. Everything south still Hersheypark. Heck I’m still mad about Candymoniums layout basically cutting off that expansion land they had without some convoluted path between that and Skyrush’s turnaround.
Kinda like that Candymonium's the headliner in that area. Part of the fun of the ride is valleying into the fields with Spring Creek right under you. HP's dropped the ball in terms of landscaping the last few years, but this helps to make up for it.

Tidal force is allegedly on its final lift chain, when that snaps, its over.
I'm so torn on this. On one hand it's been dying for a while. On the other, it's a big plot of land that will go completely to The Boardwalk, and I feel like there's too much with The Boardwalk that makes the Midway feel so completely cut off from the remainder of the park.

Hershey needs a new wave pool that is at least twice as big. The one they have is far too small for the number of people trying to use it.

They also need a second lazy river. The problem is the only realistic plot of land to do that on is where Lightning Racer is. Hershey would almost have been better RMCing LR on half the plot and then expanding the water park on the other half.

Better yet - Hershey should split into two parks.

That wave pool is always busy but if you were to ever sit there and people watch you would notice that it's not the same people there all day other than the cabanas. They really do just rotate out all day long after an hour. And it's not really because it's that pack (it's a factor in it for sure) but rather it's just that not many people realize it's a 2 day, even almost 3 day, park at this point and are only there for a day. So if you want to cool off, the wave pool is it. If there's anything that should be improved, it's the lack of seating around the wave pool. A few of us that frequented always questioned why they didn't move the Wild Mouse and the Ferris Wheel, and put in a longer lazy river around East Coast Water Works while keeping more seating around the wave pool. That's what Hershey really lacks and it's why their water park seems to be always more packed than say WCUSA.

Water park can still grow. Take out the catering areas around Fahrenheit and the back-of-house areas for the park, which could house another wave pool. Also Tidal Force, which could be home to some new body slide complexes.

If they build an events/catering area behind Candymonium, some of that catering could move over there to offset a Boardwalk expansion.

RMCing Lighting Racer is a terrible take. It's such a fun wooden coaster. Get that RMC shit out of here.

It’s fun yes but has weak airtime. Wildcat should’ve gotten titan.
LR is about the lateral forces of the racing. I can't see them doing anything with it. The issues (rumor I heard) with Wildcat was the structure and forces that it would have had that issue even with a Titan track.

And taking LR to 1 track doesn't really save any space.

You could have used the northern half of the LR plot for the RMC and then convert the southern half into another wave pool and lazy river. I wouldn't suggest an RMC following the existing layout if you want to obtain water park space.

I’m pretty confident in saying that would have made for a bad ride experience. As much as I wish GCI got the crack at redoing WC, it was the right choice of the two to do an RMC too. LR is one of the few of its type out there with some unique elements. Taking a bit of land the way proposed makes a lazy river that’s the same size as exists now.

If they want a bigger lazy River they just need to expand the current one into the Tidal Force plot, open a ton more seating.

Like I said before, HPs water park problem isn’t that it’s over crowded and they should start taking away from Midway America to expand it, it’s that they need to make everything from the stadium to the park and the water park north into a new second gate. Due to buying the golf course they have more than enough land to expand maintenance, offices, and employee parking over there. And because that used to be the old back of the park there’s a clean line between HP North and HP South that can be made to separate the two.

Just to be honest here. The way some of you feel about BGW and it’s history - that’s me with HersheyPark.

Adding fuel to the fire: Tidal Force opened for 2024 with a new exit. No longer can you walk across the bridge over the splashdown; this season, guests exit through the load side of the station. Could be a cost-cutting move, as they previously had a Security guard posted by the exit bridge, or an insurance cost savings not to keep the bridge open. To me, the ride looks like it's on it's last leg, after last season's big Summer downtime.

Video below shows this new exit:

Throwing this in the thread for now because I'm not sure if this is a 2026 project or not, but: there are a ton of markers around Tidal Force and the Boardwalk this year. I talked with the lady in one of the food trucks near the Boardwalk entrance, and she mentioned that they parked two weeks ago and the markers were not there.

Photos below from opening day:
