KD’s rink seemed to be doing fine tonight as the night cooled down. Are the conditions for TTN different because it’s for a professional show?

I just looked on the park website and it has a 7:30 show listed on Jan 1. So I don't know if this is accurate or if @horsesboy post about the last show being tonight is true and the website just hasn't been updated.

How many systems are there for this kind of application anyways?

I can't imagine there are but so many vendors and systems to choose from though FWIW maybe they have to make a custom system per application?

It seems to me that a park like SWO has existing infrastructure to support habitats for polar and marine animals. So, they might have different requirements and systems than BGW.

BGW rents the system they use. The first year they did the show they rented a smaller less powerful system that led to constant cancellations as the ice was not usable. Carl personally came down to the show and apologized to the performers that year and said they would get it right. Since then they leased more powerful equipment and have only had a handful of cancellations. I heard that it was a combination of the rain all day the day before and into that morning and the warm weather ot was a high of 75 yesterday that caused the cancellation. It was late call to cancel I was told final decision wasn't made till around 630 or 7 as they were doing all that they could to recover the ice but just could not get it to a condition that the skaters felt comfortable with its safety for the level that they do.

My info came directly from someone involved in the show. It's possible that person miss spoke in which case I would be thrilled as I was hoping to see it one more time and am at WinterFest's New Year's Eve tonight.

So what does “no contract for next year” mean? No Elvis? No cast whatsoever? No more rights to the music? We’ve seen that the show can work fine without Elvis, and surely the other two issues can be worked out relatively easily?

The park owns the rights to the show but contracts out all the ice performers and stuff to an outside company. My understanding is that the park is exploring both a new contract with that company as well as looking at other possible companies out there that might be able do the show. They are also both looking at keeping Elvis and the savings that they might get by replacing him with a less well known person. Or at least that is what I have heard.

So many questions right now; but it looks like 'Twas that night is back for 2021!

Do they have Elvis Stojko back? No clue!

Based on what I know they were talking about for 2020 before the pandemic I find I highly unlikely that he will be back but I will start inquiring with someone that may know.

Update I can confirm with 99% certainty that yes he WILL be returning.
