RE: Turn Ristorante Della Piazza into a full service restaurant?

If they try again with the full service restaurant they should do like Universal does with Finnegan's. It's essentially it's own little REAL restaurant that is located within the park, with it's own reasonably priced menu. It literally feels like an Irish pub themed Applebee's.

Don't forget Lombard's Seafood Grille and Mythos at IOA! :p

I actually prefer those restaurants to Finnegan's. Mythos is a tad bit more expensive but the quality of the food is amazing.

If the park does make Ristorante della Piazza full-service I would hope they would completely enclose it. If I'm gonna pay for full service I'd want the luxury of air-condition or heat to be included.

This. We already saw what happened when they tried outdoor seating with Bistro 205.

Yeah, but the ambiance of the outdoor seating at the Bistro pales in comparison to what could be done with a nice tablecloth, real dishes & silverware, actual glass wine glasses & candles in the Theater in Italy. No comparison....

Thanks for bringing up Bistro 205.

The only SeaWorld Parks restaurant with outdoor full-service that works is Dine With Shamu. And that is actually a buffet-style meal with servers that tend to you. The have a fully enclosed and climate-controlled restaurant with Sharks Underwater Grill there and BGT has one with Crown Colony. BGW needs something along the line with these two.

The closest thing BGW has to a closed in sit-down restaurant right now is actually in Festhaus w/the Cafe. But that's basically a room w/tables....no theming. The outdoor environment of the Theater in Italy is about as close as we're gonna get to a perfect dining experience w/the outdoor theater. Plus it's not entirely in the open. The upper two levels of the theater seating area are ceiling covered w/fans to keep patrons cool. Even in the event of inclement weather, they can still operate the nightly dinner.

PROPER air conditioning and heating is a must. A small little fan does nothing. During Christmas Town was the closest thing we got to controlled heating and it was still kind've freezing, no matter how many heaters they had. As long as there is a huge open area, it will be severely uncontrolled and possibily miserable.

Bistro 205 is obviously, lacking in shade as well as surrounding beauty; but Ristorante Della Plaza is just as bad as Bistro 205, with the exception their shade is better.

This!

A ceiling fan can't battle temps in the middle of July and August where heat indices can reach well over 100°F. If I'm paying for full-service, I'm gonna want a comfortable setting in a climate-controlled environment. Eating at Ristorante in colder weather sucks because your food can get cold fast, and cold pasta is nasty.

This the EXACT experience the one time I ate at Ristorante. The spaghetti froze and it tasted really bad.

I don't really like this place much, but the outdoor seating they have that surrounds the theater I think was designed mainly for Ristorante customers. I mean it's the first thing you see upon walking out. And with Virginia's climate in mind, I would say the outdoor seating suffices in the notion that hot weather is more common than cold which is better for the pasta. :D

Haha it does seem a bit obvious now. ;)
I know though. I was thinking along the lines that some people do enjoy it just for the show. I updated my post to reflect it.

Which brings us back to what I originally suggested. Rip out all but two of the queues inside the main building decorate it up and install seating. Full service restaurant.

I can't believe that SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa can pull this off and we can not. Both Crown Colony and Sharks Grill are top notch.
