I would certainly take some other traditional German songs and dances and keep TIO alive...rather than to kill it off altogether. Beerhall. Oktoberfest. How hard is it to grasp the traditional concept of both of those words?!

My take: it was on life support since ripping out the stage. The revival was a band aid in delaying the inevitable. In my estimation, it's probably for the best.

2014 was disappointing to be honest. Although the cast enthusiasm was high, perhaps the highest I've seen it since when the rising stage was around, a time when performers didn't seem to be on the verge of suicide, making it hard to maintain a smile. Also, the first dance was re-done instead of them just doing the polka(or shuffling as Nicole would call it) around the stage, to something more intricate.
The performances sometimes, however were down right embarassing. The performers seemed so enthusiastic they lost self control, and the band performed terribly all season, refusing to keep a normal tempo, and being all over the place in some songs. And there was a reason they used to put them up in the ceiling where nobody could see them, it's because when they are involved in the show they act like rabid drug attics, particularly the drummer.
The end of 2014's TIO season was bitter-sweet but more of a "good-riddance" also, looking forward to a better year to come.(now that opportunity is no more)

Ripping out the stage was definitely kindof a 'cutting out the heart' of the Festhaus/TIO, no doubt. But I refuse to see the show go away without a fight. And I will be making my voice heard VERY loudly to bring back a DEDICATED TIO show. One that is polished and entertaining...like it was before the stage removal. Not a show where they find a few unbusy workers and throw them up on stage just to say that the show is still 'alive' (I know that's not what really happened, but it was that kind of lack of caring at all about the show).
I believe the removal of the stage was intentional in order to eventually terminate TIO. I refuse to let it go, and even if it DID come back...I expect it to be of the same quality as it was years ago. Not as an afterthought.
Some form of the rising stage is still around with the Christmas tree raising/lowering during Deck the Halls. Makes me think the mechanisms are probably still there, just the actual stage is gone so the park could bring it back if they really wanted.
Umm, the tree is lifted on some cable, which is not how the stage was lifted.
Watching the video that BGW so kindly posted online showing time-lapse of the taking down of the old Festhaus stage, and installing the new stage for Entwined...looked to me like there was bare floor just before they started building the new stage. Whether they brought the bottom part of the old stage back and tucked it under the Entwined stage? I haven't a clue. If I recall, someone verified that they tossed the entire old stage. But it would take awhile to find who said that and when.
Very disappointing. When my family and I went back this past year, we spent more time at the park vs. our original plans because we loved seeing the show again - we made it a point to see both variations a couple of the nights as well.

When we went in 2012 and the show was gone, it felt like something was missing. All of us have a lot of fondness for the show, and we spent enough time at the Festhaus when I was young that I could halfway decently mimic half of the dances from that era at various points.
At the very least, I still have my recording of the cast from the '90s to pull out now and then, but I hope the park reconsiders. I had planned to bring some people this year to BG so they could see all these things I've talked about over the years; this is kind of a bummer.

Wunderbarn was considered another "version" of TIO also.
After looking through the whole site, finding nothing, then looking on their Facebook page and finally finding it. It really just sounds like typical BG Cabana sugar coating, especially with the words "better than ever."(Scott Gasparich can try as many times he wants nothing will reach what TIO was) The fact multiple of Zachary's more reliable sources are saying the opposite is also an important point, but we sh'all see.
So I don't like what they did either, but how about less shitting on their site and more TIO?

I can confirm the whole original stage is long gone, as are the ride controls that raised and lowered it. The control booth is now a quick change "house" for performers and if you look at the floor near the center of the current stage, you can see the imprint where the old stage was and new flooring pieces had to be added.

man, I would've paid alot of money to get parts of that stage. Anyone remember those 4 dancing statues at the very top of the stage 'poles'?? :/ All memories now
Thanks to these folks for taking the time to upload their home movies. I'm hopeful there are many more gems waiting to be set free.
