Here's a quick and easy thing to do to prevent your wallet from coming out of your pocket. Get a fat rubber band and wrap it around your wallet. Once will do. Yes, it makes it fun to get in and out of your pocket and you have to take it off to open it up but it works. My grandfather showed me this as he did it.

Getting to the real point here, This guy is facing a $5000 fine and a maximum of 40 years of prison time. aAs a tax payer, you would have to be completely crazy to agree with this kind of penalty for a crime of this nature. The guy stole $1819 dollars worth of personal property and if he receives the maximum sentence(which he wont), will cost the taxpayers of York county a few hundred thousand dollars over the course of the 40 years. All for taking some crap out of a locker. Instead, he should be slapped around a little and have his pay garnished until all property stolen is compensated for. Prison time for a crime of this nature is completely redonkulous.

A slight off topic question: Can you take fanny packs on rollercosters? I'd assume that since they snap around your waist, it would be okay. I can kick myself as an adult getting rid of the fanny packs I had as a teen.

^You can on some, probably depends on the person at the entrance of the ride. Previous queue videos have shown riders with fanny packs moving them to the side and then pulling on the harness.

I remember taking small purses and fannypacks on all the coasters years ago, but haven't had to in a long time. I know purses are a no-no but wasn't sure of the fannypacks. I don't even know if they are even sold in stores anymore; I remember it being a 90's thing LOL.

How is it fair for this guy to get 40 years in jail for stealing a couple hundred dollars worth of crap from a locker that a guest blatantly didn't pay for. i wouldn't expect to prosecute someone if I put my stuff in an open locker. This seems like overkill and a way of scaring us into paying for lockers. Child rapists are getting months in jail and this guy might get 40 years? Really?

It's also like how you can get 30 days of jail in VA for weed possession, but in other states its 100% legal. Or how speeding can get you 30 days as well in VA.

Either way, I agree. Granted, i'm sure he will only get a year or two, the rest suspended.

This is why I carry all my valuables with me. ID, passes/cards, money go into the lanyard and phone goes into a secure pocket. Unless you're wearing basketball shorts or something, pants should have a back pocket with a button or zipper for this kind of stuff. Any non-valuable stuff goes in the locker. I don't even need to pay.

The max is totally too much. But I still think he shouldn't get a slap on the hand. I'd say pay the victims back and some jail time, but not that long. Maybe a year or 18 months max.

I'm glad they were able to catch the guy. I read that some people had shoes and a few other things I think stolen at the water park.

The answer to fannypacks at least on Nessie Bolt and Apollo is they are ok. I have not tried on either of the other two. What I normally do is turn it kind of to my side so it does not interfere with the restraint being tight. No one has ever said anything on those. I know you can buy them at Walmart they are in the sporting section. I presume other stores carry them to.

Here is the thing he stole over 1000 value that makes it GRAND theft. The judge has wide leeway in sentencing the reason for such a night maximum is he would be charged the same if it was 100,000 or more. No way this guy gets the max.

I am ALWAYS wearing my fanny pack! Every coaster at BGW and KD - no problem. BGW even sells them. I want to say I did the same thing at Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando this summer without issue, though if the lines weren't crazy I used the free lockers.

I have a picture somewhere of me with both my parents in the early 90s standing in front of the Epcot globe -- all three of us rocking our fanny packs. Ahh the 90s.

In college I always had a hip pack with me. Great place to keep my smokes, zippo, extra pens, drafting pencil, mechanical pencil, and carpenters calculator. Oh and I had a special pouch for my portable CD player and PAGER...

I'm glad to see the thief get caught but you're kind of asking for it if you don't lock your goods up at any amusement park. That was a pretty dumb move by the people that got things stolen.

40 years for theft? i'll make damn sure i drive the speed limit in VA on my way there. I don't want to do 5 years for 5 over.

It's not just 40 years for theft. He was charged with two counts of grand larceny. Honestly I don't get where they got 40 years from though? The Virginia Code says if charged with Grand Larceny you face not less but no more than 1 year in jail or fined no more than $2,500. So because it is two counts, He should either be in jail not less but no more than 2 years or pay up to but no more than $5,000 fine.

However, you also have to consider that by Virginia Code, if you steal more than $200 you can be charged with Grand Larceny. If it is less than $200 then you can be charged with Petite Larceny which is a Class 1 Misdemeanor.

My bet is he will face two years jail time or a large fine.

Busch Gardens Larcenies

Arrest Made in Connection with Busch Gardens Larcenies

A man known to Busch Gardens security has been arrested for stealing items from unlocked lockers at the amusement park, according to a police report.

Jesse Doyle, a 20-year-old man from Hayes, has been charged with four counts of grand larceny and two counts of credit card theft – all felonies.

Three park guests reported June 21 that book bags with cell phones, credit cards and other items were stolen from unlocked lockers. Surveillance footage showed Doyle taking the items, along with the belongings of a fourth guest who had not reported a theft, the police report states.
