It got attention because someone thought, like BBW, it too might get scraped for a new ride soon which it won't.

Loch Ness will go when the Coney Island Cyclone goes, and that thing is protected by the city of New York and maintained by Zamperla. Busch likely will pull the full refurbishment card well before they even think about removing probably one of the top 5 most iconic coasters in the country.

And you have proof of this, I'm assuming?

My proof is it is an ACE Landmark, is the one of the most iconic coasters in the world, the only one with interlocking loops, and is older than the Big Bad Wolf. Yet it is still there.

Proof? Since when do you need proof around here?

"Pics or it didn't happen."

Nostalgia will not keep an already aging coaster in operation. I like Loch Ness just as much as the next guy, but it simply will not stay around forever, especially with replacement parts hard to come by. Eventually the park will close it because of the cost or it will simply be no longer safe to ride. When that time comes, I highly doubt that they will keep it standing as a reminder of what once was. People go to the park for a good time, not to sadden at the sight of a dilapidating coaster.

Pics or it didn't happen applies to minor changes made in the park from yarn to year.

As for parts, they have plenty to last quiet awhile and when they run out, thy can refurbish and get new trains etc. I can see the park replacing the trains and controls when the time comes with a new system but the actual track will stay.

It will never be unsafe to ride with how emaculate the park keeps their rides.

I know about pics or it didn't happen, I was just joking about the proof thing. I understand that something can almost always be done to fix the coaster, but that adds up to some serious dough.

They have a good amount of spare parts already. the only thing I could see them do to this coaster is get new trains. mostly because people are much bigger now.

Obviously it won't last forever, but its life span is extremely long and as long as the park keeps the coaster in good condition it will last for many more years to come. It could be decades before it is ready to be taken down, but in the nearby future there is no logical reason for the park to get rid of the ride so soon.

Did we not think the same of Big Bad Wolf in 2009?

No, Big Bad Wolf had major known maintenance problems whilst Loch Ness Monster has no major maintenance issues we know of. For example, if the discussion of replacement of coasters came up before 2009, I think we would all have been in agreement that BBW would be the first to go due to the forces the cars put on the track and the fact no one makes parts for BBW anymore and you can't just simply replace the trains. There really weren't any coasters like it. And it suffered major problems due to its uniqueness.

I won't dispute what you said PartyRocker, but I do want to point out that Vekoma still builds Suspended Coasters just like Big Bad Wolf and that Vekoma Suspended trains are compatible with Arrow Suspended Coasters. Additionally Vekoma sitdown trains are compatible with Arrow sit down coasters. In fact Vekoma track and Arrow track are very similar. I don't think the trains were the issue with BBW though. I've mentioned this before but Nessie would benefit greatly from new Vekoma trains and possibly Vekoma could be contracted for track repair if any is needed. I don't know how likely it would be for the park to do business with Vekoma, but it is an option.

Just throwing another point out there, but there are at least two Arrow suspended coasters that are not too far (maybe within about 500-600 miles) from BGW, so while rare, suspended coasters aren't the most unique rides out there.

I don't know if anyone has said this, but I'm pretty sure S&S still makes parts for Arrow coasters. I just think that BBW was expensive to keep up with.

Actually, on that note, I saw somewhere that the S&S-Arrow branch of S&S still exists, but they only make the 4D coasters (and parts for the existing coasters I presume). I might be wrong though, lol.

Sorry, it was unique in its design and being one of the first of its kind.

But I am sure te park will do everything to keep Loch Ness around as long as they can. See Big Bad Wolf was missing the low maintenance cost and the lacked to be a landmark. So the park wasn't too worried about replacing it. They kept the iconic drop as a settlement, if they couldn't keep the coaster they'd keep that design element. It makes the GP happier about loosing BBW and we are all happy.
