Have not seen this. Where did you hear that? The times I've ridden this year had no effects.

They brought back the strobe and the roaring sound effect last year for the 40th anniversary. Every time I’ve ridden this year the effects haven’t been working though :(

I'll never forget my friend telling me before my first visit to the park that if you looked to the side while in the tunnel you would see the monster swimming next to you. He also told me that he got stuck upside down inside the tunnel once and after I rode it for the first time i learned to take his BGW stories with as grain of salt.

It's weird, every time I rode it the effects were on. Suppose it depends on the operator turning the effects on.

For a few weeks earlier in this season the roaring sound effect was on. Now nothing. ? How much can a speaker and light cost to operate consistently ive even asked kevin about it and he said hes looking into it. At 41 nessie needs the tunnel effects to keep the rider count up and kids love it . Thank god she's an a ACE landmark and she's not going anywhere for a while. All hail Ron Toomer

If you dig way back in this thread you will see people discussing the idea of her demolition as if it would be positive for the park. Someone suggested removing the loops and turning them into a statue, (or some such). Someone else advocated for her complete removal and replacement as her design was old and dated. (interesting note, he is no longer with us... but I believe he was banned for being an asshole not for being an idiot about classic rides...)
There were some other.... interesting if not offensive suggestions.

I for one was not pleased.

I know some of the biggest trouble they have is with arrow no longer in business they've had to manufacture replacement parts themselves. At some point this may no longer be sustainable.

If/when that happens I hope that they can get someone like RMC to come in and keep the elements that make this coaster beautiful and unique yet modernize the cars/track so that it can continue to run in similar fashion in the future.

I'm by no means saying this is the best solution; but if the choice is tear down or update... I think the only choice is update.
