It's weird that you guys say that but I always get a good ride in the very front row. But if the middle is the smoothest, I'll give it a shot.

The front is like a golf cart on the first drop, ruining what is, in my opinion, the best part of Nessie.

Of course, I will only ride it in back.

Much later, with the 25th as I recall. That is also when they put up the diver, diving bell, and sign that said to remove fence and tree before launching. (also the Ace sign as I recall) I was in high school when they added it. That area in the back used to just be pure switchbacks. I remember waiting in line through them too. But she is worth it.

Doing some basic math indicates you are correct. As I mentioned it was when I was in high school or even late middle school. I seem to recall running through the "museum," and loosing a BBW hat. (It was the kind that had flaps on the back that gave you a fake mullet... don't judge me, mistakes were made.) That being the case, it would have been my class trip in 7th grade so I think 1988. That would make sense as it was the 10th anniversary.

However we do not have to guess and rely on my bad memory, there is an Ace plac in front of the flower bed with the diving suit. It marks the year all those improvements were made.

I believe if you dig through the beginning/middle of this thread (probably 30-40 pages back, who knows) it was mentioned that that themeing was added for the 10th anniversary.

While this is no doubt true, I caution anyone to think twice about back reading this thread. It is a fairly terrible thing complete with recommendations to remove the loops and make them a statue and my personal nightmare, tear down Nessie and replace it with a B&M that follows the same path... The stupid runs deep and true there.

Rode the coaster from the middle row yesterday and it's ridiculous for how far less jerky and a little bit smooth it is. I would advise people to ride it in the middle instead of the front and back.

I've not gotten the chance to ride Nessie this year, is she really that rough this season? I haven't had a painful ride on LNM since they stripped her down to the bare steel years ago. Is it time for her to get some new MK-1212s?

Not really. The middle or back is still fine.

Then again: as a 6' 200+ person I'm snug in Nessie no matter what.

I've only ridden it once this year a couple months ago and I found it a tad rougher than usual but it wasn't unbearable or unrideable. For me personally, I just don't find the ride that exciting like I used to especially since they took out the strobe effects and stopped the trains from looping together. I'll probably ride it one more time before the season is out.

I love riding her in the back but the first turn around and the loops can be a hell of a jarring ride if she is carrying a light load in my experience.

I will never ride her anywhere but in the back, but I agree that she runs better when she has a full train.

Listen, as someone who is over 40, it is just lucky that I can walk in the AM. I don't blame her for being a bit arthritic.
