I had never been through the over flow part of Nessie's line before today it has a nice theme. Also I was just telling a friend last night that she had top ride Nessie cause the drop is unbelievable

Am I the only one who finds riding Nessie to be extremely uncomfortable? If I'm being totally honest, I'd rate it 5.5/10. The seating is awful, I feel every sudden movement deep within my middle back, and I can't ride twice in a row without getting a headache. I love the attraction as an icon, but I have more fun watching it than actually riding it.

Where do you ride it?  Location on the train makes a huge difference.

I've ridden in every part of the train, but I try to get the front row of the car I'm in and not the second row because there's so much more leg room in the first row. Sitting in the second row is just asking for bruised knees for me. I don't consider my height to even be highly above average; I'm only 5'11".

Personally, I don't enjoy Nessie in the front at all. It is too slow. In fact, I will only ride it in the back to get the full effect of that first drop. I have been told that the front seat of the back car is comfortable for tall people?

The front seat of the back is definitely great for tall people. Theres enough legroom for my knees not to get jammed into the seat in front of me.

Yeah front row of any car and i found both the front and back car to be the least ruff. I wish the seats were a little taller back and head support. That said I lover her anyhow despite her flaws.

I am 6'-4" and there are no comfortable seats on Nessie for me, though at least I can physically fit my legs into the first row of each car. The front half of the train is out because the climbing turn after the first drop smashes my jaw into the restraint -- which, because of my shoulder height, only closes to about 45 degrees below the horizontal no matter how much I slouch down in the seat. And the middle or back half of the train jackhammers the crap out of my spine through the loops, exacerbated by the slouched seating posture I have to assume to get the shoulder bar to close adequately.

It's really a shame, because Loch Ness Monster is one of my all-time favorite rides. And I have no issue with most rides that have rougher spots in them. But Loch Ness just was not built for people of my height. Each time I (occasionally) ride, I feel fortunate if I reach the exit ramp without any lingering back or jaw pain.

The only thing that I find uncomfortable about Nessie is her restraints. The seat design really boxes in your hands and arms, making it difficult to maneuver your hand nearest the side of the car to grab the restraint handle. But, this is the case with most Arrows, and as we've discussed before, the tight restraints do serve a practical purpose as they constrain the rider envelope so nobody whacks their arm on the the tunnel.

That said, I thought Nessie was running extra well on Preview Day. Of the two times I rode her on Saturday, the brakes were virtually nonexistent and there was no bumping, bouncing, or rattling. Glass smooth, fast, and even some pops of air.

Maybe Nessie got some extra love over the off-season.

I dont think ive ever seen a spot on nessie thats not freshly painted yellow, though i did have one of the handles on my harness temporarily replaced one time i rode the ride this week.

Also, i think after hearing these restraint complaints I should add nessie to my poll of coasters that should get new restraints. :p

Vekoma seemed to figure out a little bit about Arrow's restraints over the years. I recall at least one production model Boomerang with restraints that sat higher off the standard pivot points behind the headrest. It made a big difference for my comfort, at least. It can be done...

I forgot to post this. My friend gave one of the ride ops a look of dismay and she said "I don't know- maintenance put it there, so its fine." It was like a plastic string instead of a handle.
