A segment of track still lives in the Project Purple construction zone. Kind of surreal being able to see what was and what will be in the same picture...

Hopefully they repaint it and put it on display in a memorial somewhere like Alton Towers
I have to assume there’s a specific reason this segment stayed in the area rather than being sent to the boneyard like the rest of the ones they kept or to Klein Recycling. Only time will tell, I suppose.
Personally I haven't made 9/11 comparisons yet, but this state is riddled with twisted WTC steel beams rising out of random fields as municipal/county/state memorials. As far as a big building collapse and the visual parallels in memorializing, they have a fine line to walk !
