Also, just from working in that field, it's always funny to me when someone "over emphasizes" something like the line those markings are on. When you call 811, most likely those markings will be in a straight line because most utilities are done in a straight line. So most times people are connecting dots that aren't there.

Alright. Well

This is sounding a lot more concrete that Six Flags is just closing this without making any announcement cause apparently CF management just wants this ride gone without any fanfare whatsoever because of the TT2 debacle.

I’m guessing this is your context:

He’s speaking pretty definitively. Closing without an announcement is so insane I can hardly believe it.

So if this is the case, next weekend would be the last weekend, unless they do keep it open for their Christmas event.

If they do this without giving (notable) notice, they deserve to be tarred and feathered for it on social media and in the press. It would be unacceptable behavior and the community should make clear that there will be punishment for any other park considering attempting it in the future.

If your coaster has a sudden catastrophic failure, that's one thing. That's understandable. If something out of your control is about to force the shutdown of a coaster on a short timeline and you can only give very brief notice, that's okay—we appreciate the effort. Knowingly shutting down a coaster on your own timeline and deliberately not telling anyone ahead of time is horrible. Even considering doing that for the world's tallest and fastest operating coaster is unconscionable.

It would be a horrendous sign for the new Six Flags' reign over Great Adventure (and really all of their parks, in general). It would betray a lack of care for the customer that would reflect very, very poorly on the corporation.

Does that include YouTubers if they turn out to be totally full of shit? Cuz I still haven't seen one single piece of evidence other than "Oh my God, they're on the internet, so they must be right?".

Sure. Anyone who has made definitive statements that turn out to be false should be called on it.

I honestly think that it begins to strain credulity to imagine that all of these well known influencers are getting it wrong though—especially since there has yet to be any substantive counter-narrative.

You know what - and I know some might give me a lot of crap for this - but this is right up there with the 5% surcharge in the 'we don't give a shit about our customer' Mt. Rushmore. At least with the surcharge I could avoid it by not buying anything in the park. There's no way around a park randomly ripping out an icon for no reason.

The new SF is outright saying right now that the bottom line matters more than anything else. Ride costs too much? Gone. Not even one year or a season of "get your last rides in". No. They don't GAF.

Personally my $0.02 as to what's happening:
Former CF people are running the show overall. They are known for being cheap on maintenance. IIRC wasn't par of the Intamin/CP spat that CP was making their own substandard to Intamin replacement parts? So CF execs now in charge of SF know they have a hard to maintain ride, already with the strained Intamin relationship, and decide to just take it out rather than try to make nice with Intamin to make this ride not be a maintenance nightmare.

I would also add - influencers who also tend to be correct and stake their whole brand on providing information.

Also, in that case. Watch out for Xcelerator

If today isn't it's last day next week might be, depends on the weather.

Typically Ka's last day of operation is the last day of Fright Fest but if there's no need for them to do off-season maintenance they can deffo keep the thing running for a few more days provided the weather is nice.

There's a lot more going on than just Ka and Zumanjaro dying and I'm actually hopeful Cedar Fair will do right by the park like it's rightfully needed for the last decade and change.

Im still not believing anything until

B. Demolition permits are filed

rumor has it that the last day is the 10th. so sad to see. i remember it being huge when i was finally tall enough to ride kingda ka and the ride as a whole is a landmark for the park. always the first thing i would remember seeing when i would enter the park as a kid and it would always fill me with such a warm feeling. i hate how unceremonious the closing is but cf is gonna cf i suppose. guess now i know what i'm doing this saturday. :-(

Unfortunately, corporations also have to deal with lowest common denominator mindsets and opinions amongst their ranks as well. Sucks.

Still, everyone will come right back, drooling, to ride new jersey fury three twenty five point five, or the new mack spinner that inevitably replace GL/KK anyway, so are they really wrong?

Again, sucks.
