Aside from the Fun Fair section being added to Great Adventure for the sophomore season, the park added a second flume to the park to capitalize on the popularity of the original Log Flume.
The second flume was an Arrow Hydro Flume model, which had more capacity with twin chutes for boats. Instead of logs, the boats were sleek and modern looking. At the base of the drop the boats got a pop of airtime as they hit a speed hump into the splash pool.
The flume was called the "Hydra Flume" on the 1975 park map, but was also called the "Moon Flume", "Ride the Rapids", "Splash Down", the "Hydro Flume" and later with the introduction of Adventure Rivers in 1991 "Irrawaddy Riptide", then just "Riptide", and the "Poland Springs Plunge".
The Flume was built within the loop of track for the Great Train Ride, so the entrance and exit path had to cross the track until the Train ride was removed in 1981. The flume was mostly unseen from inside the park because it ran over a heavily wooded area until the Adventure Rivers area was added beneath and around it for the 1991 season.
With the addition of other water rides and a full water park the second flume in the park was no longer needed and the Hydro Flume was removed after the 2006 season as part of building the new Wiggles World area of the park.
