Apparently a new permit was just issued for a large new show building and the rumor is that it’s for Potter to get another attraction. Luigi’s Mansion was what I had heard the first new attraction was going to be, but now they’ve decided Potter needs it more first. No word on what it will be, but speculation is some kind of quidditch themed ride.

Work on the expansion pad outside the park along Universal Blvd (~50 acres, likely for another hotel):

I’ve said this many times. Vekoma Thrill (Family) Glider for a Quidditch themed coaster

Well now….this could get interesting

I should also point out. This is apparently a completely different attraction than the plot filed earlier this year for Wizarding World

I spoke to someone the other day who works closely with Universal Creative who told me that Creature from the Black Lagoon is in active development for Dark Universe and they were expecting it to be coming just after the Potter expansion. I wouldn't be too surprised if this is it...

They aren't an "enthusiast" so their description of the ride system sounded like it could either be a Mack water coaster or rocking boat (or maybe a hybrid of the two?) and indoors. This makes a LOT of sense since they've been working so closely with Mack and they realize they need more ride capacity in Epic as well as more weather proof rides for the daily thunderstorms.

A Mack Rocking Boat for Creature from the Black Lagoon would be an absolute dream….Please make this happen.

If you asked me. If they were gonna add at least one new attraction to each land here’s what I’d do

Quidditch themed Family Coaster in Wizarding World
Luigi’s Mansion trackless shooter Dark Ride in Super Nintendo World
Creature from the Black Lagoon Mack Rocking Boat in Dark Universe
Flight of Passage Style Simulator Ride in Berk

While I haven't been to Epic yet, it does seem really front-loaded with attractions. SNW and Berk look like complete areas of the park from day one, and outside of small tweaks these may be considered "finished" for now. Dark Universe and Ministry both need extra added capacity, and the back of the park could use another ride or two in Celestial Park.

We already know a nighttime show is in development. What I would propose is:

1. Potter Expansion (indoor ride to spread crowds around)
2. Wave Swinger next to the Stardust Racers path (another flat ride for added capacity in the footprint of a cancelled food and beverage venue; space is already cleared for this one)
3. Parade building back behind Dark Universe (planned but never built) - even if the park does not have a daily parade, this could be used for seasonal events
4. An AP lounge in the back of the park, preparing for AP access
5. Phase 2 dining locations opens, adding some capacity to the park (exterior is already built; opens as either as dining or converted into a tribute store-style setup)
6. Something additional in Dark Universe to draw crowds to the back of the park. This could be a Creature boat ride or even something as simple as a walk-through attraction with some limited scare actors or M&G opportunities

Soo….I’ve been doing some brainstorming recently.

There’s going to be expansions to each of the lands at Epic Universe as well as two new portals

Here’s what I would do for each

Fully indoor Luigi’s Mansion attraction, with an indoor queue for perpetual darkness and midnight, and have a reveal of the haunted mansion that rivals the ministry reveal. Make the ride a trackless shooter ride.

Indoor Quidditch Story-Coaster - Harry Potter lands print money the longer people stay in them, give Ministry land a second attraction to spread the crowds from Ministry of Magic, and ensure people spend more time in the most beautiful land ever built. (Vekoma Thrill Glider)

Add two flat rides to Celestial Park, one in front of the hotel, and one near the entrance to Super Nintendo Land.

How to Train Your Dragon Simulator - go full fop, fly through the Isle of Berk, changed slightly with the epic universe rides added, include exploration of the hidden world and flying above the clouds. Make it high capacity and fully indoors, and not incredibly intense (Flight of Passage Type Ride)

Donkey Kong Country logflume - build out a gigantic banana boat log flume that expands Donkey Kong land, taking advantage of waterfall already there, tie the water through the whole land together to feel like the rides almost blend together, and then an outdoor quick service restaurant with a mini-tiki bar, serving banana floats with alcohol options.

Creature of the Black Lagoon boat ride with an outdoor swamp-land introduction section that can be skipped when the weather is poor. Underwater animatronics, a mild drop or two, and a spooky queue (Mack Rocking Boat)

After this 10-year plan, build a gigantic Lord of the Rings land in the LOTR expansion plot and a Legend of Zelda Expansion Plot. A major thrill coaster would be included in one of these plots by either Intamin or Mack Rides.

This is what I said should be the future development plans for Epic Universe. Most of this I would still keep here today, although I feel LOTR nowadays would be replaced by The Wizard of Oz (or a Wicked themed gate). Zelda would still remain.

Pokémon would go to IoA in the Lost Continent area.

And a BTTF Dark Ride would take the spot of F&F Supercharged

The park needs well themed, time tested, indoor people eaters that have low maintence history. Dark Rides, Flying Theatre and some indoor spinner.

So judging by what I’ve been hearing from people on Universal forums

It sounds like the immediate plan is rumored to be

Whatever this Potter attraction is, followed by a SNW attraction & Creature from the Black Lagoon

Yes-- Potter is a go, then Luigi's and Creature are both on tap, but the order could change. Universal is very agile in rearranging schedules and timelines and things are always subject to change right up to ground breaking. Super Nintendo World was a go for USF until two weeks before Kid Zone was originally slated to close, TMs were set to be relocated to other attractions, then the decision was made to move it to Epic and it remained open for another few years. Similar things happened with Twister/Fallon and Disaster/F&F wiht dates being given then pushed or rearranged.

Right now their pipeline is HUGE with the F&F Coaster, Pokemon (Lost Continent replacement), and Potter, Luigi's, and Creature all on tap for the next few years. With Disney becoming more agressive (finally!) it's meant they feel the need to be more agressive as well.
