One of Great Adventure's original rides from 1974 was the Flying Wave, a Zierer Wave Swinger ride. This ride is still one of the most missed rides in the park 17 years after it was removed.

This standard ride found in parks, boardwalks, and fairs is a classic offering a fun and thrilling ride that appeals to people of all ages.

It was eventually replaced with the Sky Screamer, a modern take on the swing ride. While it's a similar idea, it's not the same to the guests.

At the time they were reducing ride count under Red Zone. It kept getting rebuilt but kept having issues so they pulled the plug.

It was funny, the Six Flags In Park Advertising Department actually sold ad rights to it not realizing it had been removed from the park, so they had to use the Super Roundup instead, painting it red and naming it the "Tornado" to sell Tornados Taquitos. Probably for the best they never painted the swings red and yellow.

I wonder if what six flags Never removed the flying wave but get a new one, maybe they would have put the skyscreamer in the Movietown area but with a different name (gotham city crimewave anyone?)

I don't see them moving Sky Screamer, but they could easily add a Zierer or Zamperla Wave Swing somewhere in the park at some point. Maybe when Great America closes their Zierer Wave Swing can come east to GA?
