The perfect replacement would be a drop tower, about 240 feet tall, made by an Italian manufacturer to keep things thematically correct. Maybe the seats could even vibrate?

The Flying Machine < The Dropping Machine

Edit: Bonus points if it spins on the way up and offers an observation mode during Christmas Town.

Will it be blue, and have music that plays while you rotate up in seats that cut off circulation to your arms?

I think the only people who suggest NebulaZ's have never ridden one

Zamperla has a ton of random flat rides that look interesting listed on their website that have never been built, or have like a single installation at a fair in Belgium or something, where most of us have never ridden or heard of it. Many use small footprints like what Flying Machine had (it looks to be a roughly 50ftx50ft concrete hexagon using Google Earth measurements). Would be cool to see them purchase the worlds first of something, rather than just going the easy way out with some shitty NebulaZ that has a capacity of about 50 people per hour.

I'm sure other manufacturers have stuff that could fit here too, Mondial, Zierer, Huss, Fabri, legendary BGW manufacturer Moser, etc. There's definitely something better than a NebulaZ they can find.

I’d love not a tall, but a *short* one as well. I find the short shot towers (see: Firefall at SDC) to have some of the best cycles of them out there. Could be some form of Da Vinci’s Slingshot or something.

How about something like this to replace The Flying Machine? It’s the Steamwhirler at SFA. Lots of fun, very theme-able and looks like it would fit nicely in that ride pad.
I personally would love to see one of these here. It would fit well too given the color palettes and could provide some nice views of the gardens.
NO please. Terrible operations, and terribly boring.
I genuinely don’t understand the hate for these rides. I’ve been on them, and they’re lots of fun. Also, slow operations? That wouldn’t be new for this plot—flying machine (speaking as a former operator for it) regularly took 5+ minutes to dispatch due to the cumbersome checking process that required ensuring all lapbars were closed and locked, making sure the pin for all of said lapbars is in and locked in place, and checking the gates. Oh and there was eighteen cars to seat 36 riders versus the NebulaZ’s 8 that seat 32 in total.

Plus, on slower days (or days with less staffing), they can run the NebulaZ on half capacity meaning they only run with 4 of the 8 cars loading guests and the loading process actually takes a significantly short amount of time. Having a NebulaZ with the classic lights on it would add a lot of kinetic energy to the gardens that they don’t currently have.
