I saw that too last time I did street view for BG.
Made me miss it even more, but it's nice to see it again, in it's iconic (and rightful:)) place.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! THAT VIDEO!! Thanks thanks thanks for posting it! I am jumping for joy right now. This wasn't so much as a commercial but a promo for the ride while waiting in line. It was used along with another video to get people excited for the ride.

I've wanted to see this again for years!

Thanks also for your kind words Zachary. It's true. I put my heart and soul into that story.

FYI: I have the story posted on the blog with some updated photos: http://bgwmemories.com/2013/02/25/the-last-day-for-the-big-bad-wolf-a-personal-account/

And if you haven't read it yet, I have a "precursor" story called "Remembering my friend, The Big Bad Wolf. I wanted to put an emotional perspective on why the Wolf meant so much to me and why that "last day" was so painful. But be aware to those who hate reading... I didn't skimp on the writing: http://bgwmemories.com/2013/02/10/remembering-my-friend-the-big-bad-wolf/

I'm glad I contributed to BGWFans and brought some memories back to life.

Does anyone remember the other video they played in the queue, the one where the huge, feared wolf terrorizes the Bavarian village and panic breaks out? That video was something special to the story (at least to me) - does anyone have this?

I sort of remember it, but I don't remember a wolf. I have this image of farmers/villagers running around, fire everywhere. It's pretty chaotic, and there's some screaming or something like that.
That video was the latest one used, I want to say.

^Yes, I believe so. Certainly was there in the early 2000's. I do think the wolf made some appearance in the village, but it was mainly focused on how the villagers were all in danger of the "Big, Bad Wolf!" I distinctly remember somebody desperately ringing a large bell, lots of running, and (maybe) the wolf running through, snarling. I found the video very interesting and important to the story.

I agree. For someone who appreciates a story behind a ride, it was definitely a good explanation of the history of "The Wolf". For your typical thrill seeker, it was a somewhat humorous and pretty interesting video to watch while waiting in line.
It was a great way to kill two birds with one stone.

Oh! I loved that video and it did play up until it closed, but not every 2 mins like it did in the early 2000's through the mid 2000's. It only played like every 5-10 mins because they added these safety reminders, No loose article thing, etc. And they thought it was appropriate to play it 2 time in a row. I remember watching it vividly in 2009.

Yes. There was a story where the wolf was spotted- a man started ringing a bell to alert the people of the village (which there was a bell that rang when you were on the ride going through the village), the people began to panic, a lady dropped a bucket and ran, and the logo appeared on the screen at the end.

However, it always seemed like the video of the villagers played more often than the one with the man shooting through the Forrest "bitten by the wolf" promo. That was the video I always hoped to see because it felt like a real movie.

I had completely forgotten about this! Here comes the nostalgia again...

I never got to ride BBW, sadly, but did it have a camera to take an on-ride picture?

Sadly, it never had on ride photos. Due to the cars being under the tracks, on ride photos were nearly impossible. This is the same reason Alpengeist doesn't have on ride photos anymore.

I attribute BBW's lack of on-ride pictures to the swaying cars... in addition to hanging under the track.

I think the waterfall was better then than it is now. They really should restore it to its former glory.

Yeah, it just kind of wimpily (?) trickles from pool to pool now and runs of into the Rhine. Nice and peaceful, but I agree that it can't compare to the glory it had when the Wolf reigned.

This is ridiculous that I have to ask this question, because I should know, but *ahem* 12 years is a long time...buuuut...does anyone remember the height requirement? I'm almost positive that it was 42".

Probably the most rewarding part of my job was getting to be a part of someone's first major coaster experience. Getting to measure them and throwing a mini celebration when they were past the line on my stick. Calming some jittery little ones before they got on. Double checking the harness and actually getting a unsarcastic thumbs up from someone. High fiving them when they got back. It was great.
