I get the arguments in favor of not opening up the reserved seating in hopes of driving future profits. That said, when I look at the photo @horsesboy posted, I see lost revenue in the present.

If our only driving force here is BGW's profit motivations, why aren't people in that line being offered the tons of available reserved seating inventory for the standard $7 or $10 or whatever it is?

People don't like to pay for something they think they can likely get for free, but when faced with either not getting it at all or paying, at least a chunk of them would pay. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they could sell through a healthy chunk of their remaining reserved seating if they just announced to the line "Standby seating is now full. We currently have ___ unfilled premium seats. If you'd like to upgrade to this option, stay in line and have your payment ready."

Hear that? That's the sound of BGW printing oodles of money without any concern for the guest experience impacts on people who aren't interested in paying.

PS: I'm not actually advocating this, just highlighting that there are increasingly-evil ways to go about turning this into a cash cow where the park's actions look increasingly shitty to the normal, adverage guest. I'm completely in favor of opening up every seat in the theater to anyone who can fit five minutes before showtime.

Now we all know this would never work because you would have to purchase through the app or online and the app wouldnt work so you would need a computer. Then after purchasing you would a need a printed voucher to redeem at zone B. Then at Zone B the paper wont scan so you will need to go to guest relations where the line is 45 minutes long only to be told that they cant help because that voucher was for a show that has already been shown therefore the voucher is expired but if you call this number they can help you get a refund in the form of Busch Bucks.
 
Yes, although the last two times I was there for HOS they let cast from other HOS shows fill those seats in the front row.
 
Interesting conversation with a friend that works in entertainment with a different show. According to them and I know they are in a position to KNOW the parks policy at least at other shows is that the stage manager can and should actually have released any extra seats. They also confirmed that the park knows exactly how many seats were sold and added that those figures are sent to stage managers to help with these issues.

Possibly my friend said they know the stage manager and was reluctant to speak to poorly of them but did say that it's possibly that the host might not have relayed that they were actually turning people away from the show. They basically said that at least for other shows at the park the criteria is that the seat not be sold which of course agreed by everyone and that there is a need for extra seats. If those two factors are present the stage manager should have called the code that would have told the host to release the seats. They have no direct knowledge of where the failure in this case was. They also pointed out that the typical preshow duties at the Globe would have had the stage manager inside in a location where they could not have seen that guest were being turned away so they would be completely relying on the host to relay the info. Which given some of the other complaints here about past staffing issues at the Globe seem like a possible failure point. I am reluctant to place blame on either party without any direct info on what happened but it seems from what I heard that one of those two parties would likely have been at fault.

Honestly, lack of communication just seems par for the course for the Globe. :/ When my family and I went for Light Balance, they couldn't agree upon where stroller parking was. I told my brother it was down by the exit, like for Monster Stomp. He had asked a manager, and they said inside, but an employee who was getting ready for us said the inside stroller parking was for sleeping babies only. (Which like who is staying with said babies then??)

Everyone associated with the Globe should know this happens all the time. In the past couple season I can only remember about one time that the theater wasnt slammed packed in the lower half seating. In all those times that it was I dont remember a time when it looked like they opened up those seats.
 
Are you guys still debating the seating??
Can we just be thankful that the event is finally over?
Actually I found the event as a whole to be one of their better efforts as of late. I saw all but two shows and highly enjoyed two of the 4 I saw and like one except for being to short.
