Anyone see Kenichi’s show?

I have now. There were literally cringe-induced walk-outs.

He's super talented and parts of the act are really clever, but other sections are PAINFULLY juvenile—and that's not even mentioning the extended, peer-pressured dance lesson in the middle of the show.

Just a "heads up" if you go for the free beer. Apparently, the computer was programmed wrong so that you only get one free beer for the entire promotion. There were several people in line, and it was not accepting their passes being scanned again. The common problem with them was they had gone yesterday, got their free beer and it wouldn't let them get another one today. They were working to fix it but it was causing long lines.

Not my experience as I had one Friday and one again today with no issues. If it was it was fixed over before 1.

Yeah, I guess it was noon when we went through. They had about 10-12 people standing off to the side waiting for things to be cleared from yesterday.

Had problems when went through about 1130. There was about 10 people in front of me so hopped in line. 15 minutes later I had my free pass beer. There were managers there and the lady scanned my pass and I saw it said something about denied/unauthorized but she gave me one anyway. It and seemed to be somewhat cleared up by 3 when I got the 2 50 cent beers.

On an additional note, it was a painfully slow process on Saturday also. They really need to have 2 separate lines. One for passholders and another if you are paying for the 50 cent beers. The cause of the slowdown in the line is the payment process. Passholders went through quickly, just scan and go. It sucks as a pass member to have to wait 20 minutes in line for your free beer.

When they have done the free beer before it was at the Festhaus and a seperate line from the rest of the food and there was nothing to pay for. It was quick and effichent, walk up get a hand stamp and a beer and your done. Now at Grogans, which has super long lines on weekends and soem weekdays at times will even be longer. Not sure how many will wait 30 minutes for 7 free ounces of beer......on top of that they will probably not let you get your free sample and buy the .50 cent ones at the same time with their one drink per id rule. Wonder what size the .50 pours are? If those are 7oz just think, you could easily waste a hour to get 21oz of Bud Light or Miller Lite.
THey did the free beer at Grogans last year and I don't remember a wait
Would have never seen that coming……

Concerts have pretty much been held only on Saturday for a few years now. Years ago when AB owned the park artists would do two shows. One on Saturday and the second on Sunday and they were generally held in the Festhaus park. Years ago they would always have an oldies concert on Labor Day weekend and it was in the RPT, like now. Ah, the good old days.

FHP concerts had such a cool feel to them. Like an acknowledgement of it not being as professional as a proper concert, in a good way.
I remember going to one of those. I don’t remember it but I remember sitting back there for a concert.

What's with the strange focus of having 4 concerts each Saturday and none on any other day?
I believe that the noise restrictions that the park has with KM play a roll in this. As far back as I believe Invadr's height waver KM was kinda playing the we won't fight the height waver if you work on the noise especially at night. Rock concerts were mentioned specifically. I believe they are pushing for earlier concerts which just don't work as well during the mid week.

I remember seeing Loverboy at the FHP. It starting raining heavily just as the concert started so we only stayed for a few songs - still got drenched. I caught the end of a B52 concert because I got the time wrong. Overall it was a good concert venue and they had some pretty good bands.

Not sure if this will work in Williamsburg, but in Tampa today the free beer booth encouraged me to scan my 12-year old son's pass to get two additional beers. it worked, and I walked away even happier!
That’s what my wife and I did last summer with our son and daughter’s passes at BGW

Went up for a quick visit tonight, my first one since the new event started.

The event does nothing besides the light effects, and that's why I loved it. Walking around BGW on a summer night with the normal soundtrack playing was something I've missed dearly. Glad that with this event the park just decided to be itself for once

It’s almost like they took a step towards an illuminights style approach.

This is all I’ve wanted from a BGW summer event for years. I really hope it’s not the case that they’re just not done yet and planning to switch over the pop music at some point. But if this is really what the event is, I might have to pay the park a visit soon. Complimenting the park’s existing beauty with lights, rather than covering it with glitter, is exactly what a BGW summer event should be.
