Here’s something that baffles me. Why do all these people wait a full FUCKING YEAR to file these suits? If they really think it’s so dangerous they should be filing immediately after it happens, not a whole year.

I blame the US healthcare system and how long it can take to properly diagnose things. I had a weird skin condition that first appeared in 2014, and 7 doctors, 36 vials of blood drawn for testing, and 4 diagnostic scans later, it was finally figured out by an intern when I was in the hospital for something else....4 years later in 2018 (spoiler: it was scurvy).

Also, like, lawyers work slowly.

yeah uhhhh looks like this whole X2 kick is gonna end with a lot more waivers or just no roller coasters without full suspension, all-extremity-immobilizing body casts

Maybe I'm just ignorant because I'm tall but how is anyone hitting their head on the restraint? Shouldn't the lapbar be against your waist enough that your torso will slam into it first? I guess if you're a little kid you're short enough for that to happen.

As someone who rode stardust racers a bunch yesterday, the restraints six exactly like other Mack rides built coasters of this generation. The lap bars are most similar to how copperhead strike sits, they’re just a bit more forgiving with larger guests. From my experience, you have to either be very negligent of riding it properly or have an underlying health condition that’s aggravated by forces that you’d typically have on a coaster.

I didn’t experience any greater forces on the coaster like others built to this scale, but the design does really play well into using those forces wisely for the maximum effect. I’m also around 6’5” tall so I’m not around kid size obviously, but I saw kids riding who were exhibit proper riding position remotely well and came off without anything obviously damaged.

Also worth noting that it probably is the goggles capacity ride in this park, it’s two tracks and was operating with 4 trains on both sides yesterday. Advertised wait time was at most 20 minutes, but it barely created a line at any point where the lockers are.

I've not been on a new Mack like this so I'm not familiar with the restraint design. Maybe they just ultimately decide 48in is too low. Obviously this is not a concern if you have upper body control and don't go unconscious, but they do want to mitigate anyone getting hurt if it DOES happen I imagine. Nothing visibly wrong with the actual physical/mechanical design of it.

This is a known isue with lap bars and smaller riders and also happens to be the reason that comfort collars were removed from Icebreaker etc. Having a hard metal edge sitting on top of the lap bar certainly made things worse.
