why do those tracks look so goofy?

That's not the track, that's the support beam for the track to sit on.

Correct.

You can see in this pic where part of the drop track is mounted to those beams.

This is why I love Intamin. Thank you for doing something new that accommodates a clients' needs. When it comes to innovation, Intamin is the largest, most fluid manufacturer out there. I think this track looks sexy.

Now why I do commend Intamin for their innovation I find these stacked curved I-beams a bit ugly. It looks too industrial and a step backward from looking innovative.

I am excited for this ride though.

oh, why do those support beams look goofy then? I really don't recall seeing any rides like that before. Just curious as to the reason behind the new design.

Because Hershey wanted the ride in that spot, creating a pretty good challenge for Intamin. If you look under the lift hill Comet passes right under it, so using the traditional multiple support posts wasn't the way to go and they decided to use the Intimidator 305 style. The double beam idea on the track also allows for the track to support itself in spaces (check the airtime hills, they show what I mean). Finally the trains aren't innovative, I believe Maurer Shone already had that design :p

I think that any company that has one support on a 200ft+ lift hill is absolutely innovative. Industrial yes, but a step backwards to messy Arrow (read: Lochness lift) days? No. The trains, meh, but the track is sexy as hell.

It looked innovative when they made this lift for I-305. However with Skyrush they took that concept, scaled it down and made it hideous looking with stacked I-beams. It's too skeletal and has absolutely no refinement in appearance. And that catwalk underneath the top of the lift looks pretty atrocious too and sticks out like a sore thumb.

And I NEVER said anything about it looking like Arrow coasters - Just pointing out that it doesn't look like the next step in Intamin's development as it looks regressive.

The rest of the ride's tracks and supports look great (much like I-305) but that lift hill is gonna win them awards for the Ugliest Coaster every year.

Hi, I heard you liked to see all the bolts hold the coaster together? Well with Skyrush you get to watch all 2,000 holding the lift together rust in unison as the years go on! You don't even need binoculars!

Going June 10th-11th for my senior trip, if anyone wants pictures of Skyrush or anything else feel free to ask.

In other news I still need that Coal Cracker credit...

Has anyone been reading the reviews on SkyRush?

Let's just say I CANT WAIT to ride it in 2 weeks...

Review: I got to the park around 11am and it was broken down, so I went and took all the other pictures above. Around 2pm it opened back up again and I ran to it. waiting about five minutes for everyone to file in I got on the train, Second row, Left outside seat (no floor for me :D). The seats were really, really open and the harnesses were a bit like i305 just without the OTSR. The lift hill was insanely fast, you literally go to 200 ft in the air in less than 10 seconds and it just throws you over the hill. From the second row I was literally out of my seat with hands up all the way down into the right hander. Going into the first full speed hill I got some really good ejector air (makes el toro look like a joke) but the harness ruined it by jamming my thighs and bruising them badly. The turnaround into the second hill had a lot of force in it (not enough to black out but with how open the seats were you'd probably get some twists in it with your back. Second hill slammed my thighs not as hard as the first, but it still hurt a lot. The second turnaround into the overbank (or is it a Stengel? idk) had lots of force and the overbank was quite a suprise of force, makes Millennium Force cry due to the lack of force MF has. Then came the twisty hills in the second half, this is a lot like El Toro's second half where you go both directions really fast, you have to lean into the turns or you're probably going to get jostled around a bit. The final hill was a nice punch of air (again hurting my thighs a lot) and so ended the ride with a nice left hander over Comet.

In all honesty I think the problem lies in their harnesses, they have a sort of wedge that jams into your waist and leaves your thighs to travel and bend freely, nothing like B&M's mega coaster trains or to a lesser extent Intamin's older Mega coaster trains (MF, Supermen). The fact that your thighs can travel freely up, or down means that you're subject to turning and twisting over the hills, I literally got flung forward when going over the first hill which hasn't even happened to me on over 100 rides on El Toro (sadly the closest comparison to that kind of ejector air). Really they just need to use better harnesses, more coverage of the thighs and maybe contact with the stomach, and they should be perfectly fine with the complaints about the thigh problem, which has been reported a lot by the GP, too. Beyond that though the ride was a lot of fun and definitely is worth the ride up to PA this summer.

You are lucky! I would have thought that the restraints would have been better, but there isn't much restraint so it needs a good way to keep you in. Where there lots of close calls in the outside seats with the ground or other objects?

Sadly I didn't get much of a close call feeling on the left side. That first drop though into the mini cliff is actually really cool but on the left side I didn't really feel I was close to it at all. I would love to say the same about the right but they are closer to the ground in the first turn and they also get some tree action, that tree by the overbank is a lot closer than it looks.

I was lucky enough to have ERT on SkyRush last Friday with CoasterForce... And... I have no words, it's insane. Certainly the most terrifying coaster I've ridden in a long time. It's trying at every opportunity to throw you out. The first drop is scary, truly, truly scary. Every hill packed full of the most powerful ejector air in the world. The trains, despite the obvious fact that they are a nightmare to load due parks ignorance over how the public behave (it's not just Hershey, no park pays the blindest bit of attention to minimising loading faff in the US), are really cool and offer a variety of sensations to keep you interested. It's amazing, however...

The restraints need to be changed. They hurt. The park told us that they are looking into it as the restraints are not what they asked for... But I am suspicious that in the meantime they will trim the hell out of it to try solve the problem, and if and when the restraints are changed they won't remove the trims.

If you grab the bar either side of you which holds the lapbar in place and pull up on it, forcing your arse firmly into the seat, you don't get the pain. This does mean that your arms will ache for days after though! The problem occurs because the lapbar is at an angle digging into your thigh. It feels like it's going to snap your leg, seriously. Everyone coming off, enthusiasts and general public, commented on the pain... And the staff were well aware that it was a problem that needed addressing.

It's a shame. Why can't Intamin just make an amazing ride? Why is there always a "but.." regarding comfort, safety or maintainance?
