Screamscape is reporting they are installing a new cable on the cable skyway. If that is so, that is expensive specialized maintenance.

Most theme parks would just remove the ride at that point these days. I commend SEAS for keeping this ride, regardless of how long it is taking to re-open it.

Cable replacement is a standard part of the ongoing maintenance of any skyway, as the cable is a wear item. There are not many people who offer the service of splicing new skyway cables, and they got severely backlogged due to international travel restrictions.

I don't even think the park knows what's going on at this point. They did a significant amount of testing, now they are doing painting and housekeeping work at all the stations, don't know what the next process is though.

I’m also hearing this rumor from some park staff. It all just depends if they can get enough employees to run it.
