Screamscape is reporting they are doing work on the ride.

General Park News - (7/3/2023) While the Skyride’s page and name may have been removed from the Busch Gardens Tampa website, the ride clearly doesn’t appear to be in danger. Updates sent in yesterday afternoon show that crews are actually repainting the ride’s towers at this time, and that the cars themselves are in the process of being refinished and powder coated ahead of an eventual reopening.
So why remove the old page for the ride from the website? I don’t know for sure, but one contact speculated that when the Skyride does reopen, they might be planning on giving it a brand new name or a new logo to help promote its return.

Has anyone asked Screamscape if it will open before or after Kumba closes at the end of Howl-O-Scream 2022?

Kumba was purely a rumor.

I doubt that actual work being done on the ride is a rumor. It’s should be clearly visible.

Kumba was purely a rumor.

To be fair, it was not. Screamscape reported it as solid, 100% fact.

If the report is actuate as per the type of work currently taking place on Skyride, I am cautiously optimistic. Don't know why BGT would opt to have such a negative cloud held over the park in the meantime though if the speculation isn't true. Seems pretty braindead public relations-wise.

By rumor I meant it was based on something somebody said, not actual physical proof. Screamscape may have considered a fact, but I did not have considered it fact based on that.

Screamscape gets something wrong once in a while, but there is more industry news on that site that just about anywhere else and most of it is valid

Maybe BGT just wants to make Screamscape looks stupid again and they’re going to all the effort of repainting the towers to do that lol

Repainting towers doesn't necessarily equal reopening the ride it's possible that removal might not be practical at this time and the repaint might help hide them.

What if they’re doing something crazy like turning the sky ride into an up charge? Wouldn’t be the first time SEAS has made an observation ride an up charge (SWO’s Sky Tower comes to mind).

To be clear, I wouldn’t support that at all. But given the removal of all of the ride’s signage and branding, could be one explanation. At least it would spare the ride from SEAS’ penny pinching until hopefully a better owner takes over the park someday.
