If Six Flags offers a “Regional Pass” for 2026, would you get one or something else?

^ That would be a lame deal for the Chicago market. Most of the people from this area that travel goto Cedar Point, Kings Island, or Six Flags St. Louis.

Yeah, I thought La Ronde being on its own island was the lowlight of that map... Until I saw KD paired with SFA. If you purchase a KD regional pass during the Labor Day sale you'll have a whopping 2 months to use it to its full extent.

More logically though - a regional pass for SFA, if offered at a discount, could compel some people (particularly those south of the park) to stick with the chain.

That map definitely would not encourage me to buy a regional pass. Adding one park is not an extra value to my family, but other families may love it.

What this means for your gold passes:
If you bought your pass during the MVP sale, you'll keep all park access through 2026, with regional access in 2027. If not:
Automatic region access if you don't have an all park passport.
Free upgrade to prestige if you do have an all park passport.

I bought a Good Pass as part of the MVP sale at Six Flags Great America on October. That is now becoming a Prestige pass?

That's not how I read it at all - I read it as Gold Passes with APPs get turned into Prestige, no matter when they were bought. We should probably wait until the effective date of this change to see what actually happens.
"Those who purchased a Gold pass or membership during the 2025 MVP Sale will retain all-park access through 2026, followed by regional access beginning in 2027 for those maintaining active memberships." It doesn't explicitly mention an upgrade to prestige.

It also doesn't explicitly say that they don't upgrade, and a sentence earlier says that Gold Passes purchased with an APP (which technically, all MVP sales were - I know, I did one myself) will be upgraded to Prestige. The press release directly contradicts itself, and you shouldn't assume that one reading is better than another.

All I'm saying is just wait and see what happens after February 27th when the "Prestige upgrades" are supposed to happen. Blind speculation before that point helps no one.

So did I just get screwed over after buying MVP prestige passes? Thanks a lot Six Flags

Definitely not. Assuming MVP sale passes aren't upgraded to Prestige, you still got access to every park in the chain at the lowest price of the year. Moving forward, to get access to every park in the chain, people will have to buy in at the Prestige level—a notably more expensive pass.

My understanding is the upgrade is for those who bought the all park passport separately in order to compensate for the extra money they spent on the product. If you bought the all park passport to visit a couple nearby parks and those parks are now included by default, it'd be a pretty big slap in the face and potentially open the company up to a lawsuit. Rather than offer a refund option, they're adding significant additional perks to those in that situation as compensation for loss of value. For those who got all park access for free, there's no need to upgrade as they were already getting a fantastic deal at the sale price.

This company needs to make a plan and stick with it. Constantly changing pass options is confusing for the customer.

Regardless, If someone bought gold with the MVP sale and they go to multiple parks it was still a huge bargain, I renewed mine through Canada's Wonderland with meals and drinks and will end up paying about $265 US for the entire year.

However, this company keeps giving away the gate. Right now at KD, the regional pass is $105 and the prestige pass is $199. A platinum pass without any prestige benefits was at least $200 pre-2020.

Giving away the gate (and food) hasn't worked in the past for the financials and this probably won't work any better. No matter how they price these passes they are still giving away lots of food with their dining plans.

It seems to be working just fine for Canada's Wornderland financials, just saying...
And this already costs more than a thousand dollars for a family of four to get passes, dining, and drink plans. Many familys cannot afford a price hike.

I agree with you on many points but I think there are a few points worth considering that might not have been taken into consideration.

First if Six Flags is actively in the process of selling off multiple parks as there appears to be at least some evidence to support that rumor the pass system likely be seeing changes any how and this might just be a move that was made before an announcement was made.

Two Six Flags is actively struggling with consumer confidence and support right now and some times it's better to take a short term loss and sale a product on the cheap to win over a consumer in the ling term.

Its a bad continuous cycle. Six Flags has bad consumer perception because of all their cutbacks. The cutbacks are due to lower revenues coming from these low priced pass programs.

I agree. They need to bite the bullet take the losses and improve their product. But unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like they’re willing to improve their product as long as they’re selling their product at such a low price…….
