New news about the coaster.

Six flags confirms the name and launched drops.
This is not new. It's a rehash of the first article with some bits pulled from the video. Nothing new.

A friend of mine says that that coaster is never going to happen. They are just trying to drum up excitement about an upcoming not actually Six Flags park that no one would otherwise want to go to. And the animation video looks like some ridiculous thing somebody made up in roller coaster tycoon. I think he has a point.

Does your friend have an actual source? I think the issue with that theory is that they said it would be an opening attraction so if they didn't build it then the people who would come to ride it probably won't be coming. It seems silly to make a fake video to drum up excitement when you could just show off other more realistic coasters.

No, it's just his thinking on the subject. But what they presented, don't you think that it looks completely unrealistic? I thought that when I saw it too.

If there's $ to be spent on building something as ridiculous as we think it looks, that part of the world has it. Especially if the predicted ROI is good (sounds like ROI could include pride in addition to $)

So what if Qiddiya is really the name of the Cedar Fair merger project?
the
acQuisition
of
Intimidator 305
Diamondback
Dragster
Intimidator
Yukon striker
Afterburn

Yes but that region is constantly trying to one up itself and has a lot of money to build these outlandish ideas.

Just because it doesn't look like something we've seen before doesn't mean that it can't be built. Rides like TTD and KK we had never really seen anywhere else and I'm that if this forum existed when TTD was being built the reaction would be equally in shock at the idea and talking about how it's impossible

As ridiculous as the acroynm is, you might be onto something...

More of the same - including a bit about the "Falcon's Flight" coaster.

While the design itself may require some adjustments, I don't doubt they will meet their goal of Falcon's Flight being the current longest, tallest, and fastest roller coaster. Intamin currently holds the record for designing the tallest (Six Flags Great Adventure's Kingda Ka) and fastest coaster (Ferrari World's Formula Rossa).

They'll do it again.

With enough money I wouldn't be surprised if 1000' wouldn't be broken for the sake of records. But the question remains is if the experience is any good

At some point the elements become so huge they lose whip or that sense of anticipation of what’s ahead

At a certain point it won't be possible due to physics. That's a lot of g forces on your body.

True if it was a straight shot down without a crapload of trims, but if you revisit the Polercoaster designs it was a really tall coaster designed with a bunch of shorter drop elements and transitions to where no one drop is all that big but there's a way to keep the intensity.

I'm not suggesting such a ridiculously high ride would be a Polercoaster, but that there's a way to achieve the height and maintain some intensity while not exceeding the limits of safe operations.

Per my earlier point, the question in that scenario isn't so much can it be done, as I assume it could be physically created, but about cost since that'd require a boatload of custom engineering and design work, a huge quantity more materials, even if not new fabrication tools or techniques there still a lot more time involved (time = money), and I'd assume specialized erection crews since your average set of cranes used on most coasters aren't high enough (not sure if they could be extended higher, but at that point you need incredibly skilled labor to make it work).
