Wasn't he president of BGW back in the day before becoming SEAS CEO? If so, the man certainly understands the direct value of guest experience.

In my career, I've managed a CX program - it's refreshing to see a company investing into it, time will tell if it's not just lip-service though signs are pointing towards legitimacy.

CFO on Winterfest/HITP cancellations:

In hindsight, that decision did not optimize profits at every park the way we needed it to. Those events can be meaningful demand drivers, and removing them created a self-inflicted headwind in terms of both attendance and operating leverage. We’re taking that learning directly into our planning for 2026, and we will rethink the winter holiday strategy with a tighter, returns-driven approach, market by market, rather than applying a broad brush."
The nice thing is we can already correlate this to actual action from the company, between the focus group for Kings Dominion and the recent surveys that were just sent out. Helps support that he's not just talking the talk up there.

I just finished reading the call and I also have optimism that things will get better for the chain. I just hope they follow through with what they said in the call and people don’t try to block what Reilly wants to do to fix the chain.

Also, I’m so glad they admitted the cutting of WinterFest/Holiday in the Park was a mistake. This gives me hope that we’ll know by the end of March whether they will come back. They should make these decisions sooner rather than later so season pass sales can soar.

I wouldn't call that era the prime - between 97 and 01 would be better considering the large capex projects completed.
Fair enough. I should rather say, the last time BGW was managed well.

Surprised Brian Witherow is stepping down. He was with CF for like 3 decades...
It sounds like he was forced out.

"John Reilly, President and Chief Executive Officer, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation: Thank you, Michael, and good morning. Before discussing the quarter, I want to address the leadership changes we announced this morning. We have made targeted adjustments across key areas of our senior leadership team, including finance, administration, and marketing, to better align our organization with our strategic priorities going forward. We thank Brian for his many years of service and contributions to this company. Dave Hoffman, our Chief Accounting Officer, will step in on a temporary basis to lead the finance organization. I am confident Dave will help make this a smooth transition."

Sounds like Brian may have been a potential roadblock when it comes to executing John's vision. Perhaps he disagreed with John's vision on certain things and he wanted to stick with how some things were under Zimmerman. Wishing him nothing but the best in the future, but hopefully we'll see John's vision become a reality and it works for the chain.

Increased maintenance spend to improve ride uptime and capacity is an exciting detail from this call! Love to hear it.
Now hopefully they can spend more to staff parks better. At Kings Island, multiple ride positions have been cut and crews are operating at bare minimum a lot. For example, the Eiffel Tower base attendant was cut, a couple of 2 op rides were reduced to one operator, and the train was reduced to "baby train".

Sounds more like short staffing in the shoulder season. The train will return to full size when the water park opens, normally the train with half of the coaches is more than sufficient for spring operations.

I was told by a ride op at KI that there is a waiting list in rides so it's not that they're short staffed, they're choosing not to hire more. If they had more of a budget, they would hire more for the part of the season where the school kids can't work.

Please don't pollute the forum with such clickbaity nonsense. There is no "nugget gate" - an idiot filmed on a coaster and he was rightfully banned. That's all there is to it.
The video is timestamped.. or at least, should be, to the part where they talk about the board changeup/takeover. I do not care about the nugget nonsense, that guy got what was coming to him. Sorry for the misunderstanding!!
