RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

Here are post boxes in the new theme if you're curious.

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

Something I noticed was you have nothing indicating what the numbers mean on the main page. Like the 230 listed under BGTFans Forums. I don't like guessing what the numbers mean. Or is there already plans to add something for that?

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

Looks more like a newspaper than anything. I'm not subscribing to the New York Times for this stuff...

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

Though usability of the new theme is much improved, the more I looked at the general appearance of it, the more I realized that I just didn't like it. It didn't look like a friendly, inviting place. Anyway, with that realization, I went back to the drawing board design-wise and came up with this.

Still very much a work in progress of course. Better? Worse?

Note: Ignore the Grow/Shrink button- known bug. :p

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

This is sorta irrelevant, but it's fun to talk to Zach while he is designing this when he can't get something working... just saying.

But I would like to point everyone to the advertisement in the side-bar. When advertisements are implemented, they will not be intrusive in anyway. There won't be any pop ups or special banners. We hate them just as much as you do, trust me. We would never implement anything that does that.

I love keeping the rounded corners. They seem much more relaxed and enjoyable than the sharp point corners.

I really do like this theme you just presented much better.

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

I agree with PR. This theme is certainly much sharper and more unique, but perhaps you went a teeny-tiny, teensy-weensy, minutely minisculelly, little bitty itsy bitsy way you overused the "all blocks" style. I know what you were going for, but for some reason the block style adds modernization but does make it a little less welcoming.

Another thing I might add would be to italicize user signatures a bit. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate between the signature and a double-post.

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

I also must say I really like the new "quote-within-a-quote" look where the inner quotes have a lighter shade of yellow. Helps a lot!

One thing, though. Why do all three park icons show up in color when there are 0 unread posts? Seems a bit odd to me.

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

The unread posts thing may change. I'm undecided on it right now.

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

If you use unread posts to navigate the forum, then you can click the "mark this forum read" in the eateries section to clear the un-needed posts.

Even though I've glanced at the 'Who's Online' every so often, I still found it a bit creepy so I'm glad it is gone.

All three blogs have one new slide each. BGWFans has a proper Colossal Curl slide, BGTFans has a Bands, Brew & BBQ slide, and KDFans has a KD40 Birthday Bash slide. BGWFans has finally had its Christmas Town logos swapped out and replaced with the normal main seasons logo as well. Work is still very much ongoing with the new theme. No ETA as always.

RE: The ParkFans Network: Site Updates & Changes

I was going to show off something different but, alas, Shane forbid it. :p With that said, I wanted to show something so...

Just small changes in this one, but it's starting to really come together.
