Should regular season attractions be reworked to facilitate the off-season events?

So, question: if they decided to remove the wolves from DarKastle, because they're too scary for Christmas Town, would you support that?

How about if they decided that Ireland was too kiddy for HoS, so they just painted all the buildings black and orange and put gargoyles on them (but still called it Ireland). Would you support that?

I mean, aren't they just making a commitment to the seasonal attractions?

I think people are over reacting to the sundial. I think it's like removing the crashed car in grit of verbolten, yes it is good theming taken away and will be missed, but in the end it is not essential.

Preshows/voiceover/props in line give you context to what you're doing, not some theming you barely see on the ride anyway that you only see entering from one side of the park -__-

Can I ask a question? Are we just assuming that they did this whole "sundial" thing so they can put up an inflatable snowman at CT? With all of the heavy lifting they do for HOS and CT (like installing 400 million lights or whatever), are we really suggesting that they installed a massive stone sundial and planted a ton of new plants around it just so they wouldn't have to move a handful of props two times a year? Seems like kind of a silly assumption.

Maybe they just wanted to make a change?

There are tons of reasons that are very possible but no one will know for sure unless they ask or we may never know.

Honestly, i think it is a stretch, I think moving smaller props would be easier than the sundial but you never know.

Also, it was a Santa Claus the was retardedly out if place.

The actual Lost City of Pompeii had various style of sundials within its limits. Some of the dials were unique to Pompeii whilst others are like what you see in front of the ride. The culture was huge on time and its addition to the attraction makes nothing but sense.

Knowledge bombs. Please drop more of them.

Please, more of this.

And the fact that it is clean, pristine, and surrounded by well manicured greenery really adds to that genuine, archaeological feel.

I mean, what was Indiana Jones, if not first and foremost a botanist?

Here's the bottom line:

The previous theming did not tell enough of a story to impact the average guest.
If you want a better story, keeping the old scenery wouldn't have done it. What you want is a preshow or other extrapolation The story shouldn't even BE told in a weird section of land that half the people entering the ride don't even see.
The sundial is still time specific and appropriate.
The greenery is nice and helps the park stay the most beautiful
The land is multiuse while saving the trouble of removing/moving back in theming (those things are all heavy and fairly well anchored. That = $)
Removing the old (not better) theming does not detract from the ride experience.

And that's all I'm going to say about this subject. Subject done. Sorry if I "get under your skin" DrMoney ;)

I wish I had the psychic powers a lot of you seem to have. To know with certainty what the "average guest" thinks has got to be a rare gift. Worth a lot of money inside the industry I'd bet, too. You should tell the management...

Agreed...it would be pretty difficult for the old scenery to tell a better story than the old scenery did. (???)

The sundial is still time specific and appropriate.

Thanks for clearing that up. Here I was thinking that it seemed out of place.

Exactly, versatility. Non committal. When I think Santa Claus, I think sundials.

Removing the old (not better) theming does not detract from the ride experience.
Again, thanks for that. I was thinking that there was more to the attraction than just the boat part. I feel so embarrassed.

And that's all I'm going to say about this subject. Subject done. Sorry if I "get under your skin" DrMoney ;)

Don't apologize for being who you are, Carter. Just keep telling me how much you understand things that the rest of us don't.

Mmmmmhmmmm

EDIT: and with you "thanks" to Gavin's super rude post I see who you are DrMoney. If THAT'S what you want this forum to be you can take a little time out and come back when you're ready to be promote civility instead of bullying.

Thread over. I hate closing threads but there's a point where the discussion becomes so pointless, hopeless, and in this case, personal that it doesn't matter anymore. Also, the Pompeii thread better settle down too. That thread won't be closed- other things will happen before it gets to that point.
