RE: Survey Soliciting Interest in the Creation of Sesame Place Williamsburg

I'd prefer Heartstone TrollMarket from TrollHunters but that idea works too. ;)

I wonder if it would be included in the membership plan or completely separate. The survey talked about taking FoF away from busch and becoming solely part of the new Sesame street park.

Could someone who got the survey PM me on the forum or email me here: zachary@parkfans.net

I want to put together a main site post and need the highest resolution images I can get my hands on. Will credit however you want.

I personally would have zero interest in this. Few problems I see is the reduced parking that this would cause, handicap would have to move to the bus lot which would severely limit preferred parking. I also dont see them offering this as an membership option. If this year with the new memberships not giving you a choice for WCUSA why would this. I think they would include it, raise prices more saying we are giving you a third gate.

I'm all for a giant expansion of the kiddie area, but a separate gated park in the France lot seems completely ridiculous. Also, Sesame Street is fantastic programming for three year olds, not fantastic theme park material in my opinion.

The composite image from my earlier post are the full size screenshots from the survey.

Holy shit! SEAS is exploring a third gate for Williamsburg?!

First impressions: I want this. I really want this. This idea is brilliant.
Not going to lie this could be big for the park. This has a way to draw more people in that normally might not go. If you're against it think about this way. I more parents take their kids to this park over Howl-O-Scream that could help the park make the event more scary and help with over crowding during HOS and Christmas Town.

RE: Survey Soliciting Interest in the Creation of Sesame Place Williamsburg

Confirmed project Madrid is a 300 foot tall Big Bird.

All joking aside, I'm loving this idea. First off it doesn't have to be that expensive. Pull some rides that have low ridership at other parks within the chain, purchase some used attractions, re purpose what you have. Take some of the currently tightly packed rides and spread them out some. You can invest in a small second coaster for that park.

They could also keep some of the kids rides in the main park to keep the balance.

Downside is they are using the preferred parking, the trams are rerouted, and the already crowded entry to the park would become even more crowded.

I'm thinking less that and more in general for the season that they could introduce more thrilling rides without leaving the kids behind.

RE: Survey Soliciting Interest in the Creation of Sesame Place Williamsburg

So is this the new Terror-tory all my buddies were talking about for Howl-O-Scream!! ;-)

I had no idea it would be this awesome. I am definitely putting in for scare actor again. I'm going to be the dancing Cookie Monster with glow in the dark flashing red eyes on the bridge  to Italy.
I've been saying for years that puppets and Sesame Street characters with Muppets are scary as hell given the right circumstances. Kind of like a husband hearing his wife is pregnant.

All the Platinum/Premier members are going to be pissed. I wonder where they're going to get to park if not in England.

Well if they're going to go all out, I hope there's a water slide like Sesame Place in Pennsylvania.
Maybe we can get a clone Oscar coaster like what's opening up there.

My God... the logistics! I wonder where all the buses are going to park now. Probably in France moving everybody down one lot. This will probably make good use of the parking lot across the street now. When was the last time those were used heavily on a consistent basis?

This must be one of the new perks for Premiere or whatever.  I like it!!!
Good job BGW!!! :)

The across the street parking is used almost daily in the summer and for HOS.

I have never seen it be used MON-THURS through the summer. Only time I’ve seen it used are during Summer weekends and HOS Saturdays. Could be wrong, but that’s just my observation.

And at most it's about 1/3-1/2 full.

And let's count here: 144 Handicap spots, likely will be moved to either England or another lot.
About 870 regular spots there.

More paving of Scotland and Bavaria lots could easily make that up. Have a bus drop off near the main gate, and put them back in the employee lot while groups are in the park.

Of course there's always the option that they could turn the Bavaria lot into a 2 or 3 story parking garage (or Germany), and easily double the size of a 1,000-1,500 car lot.

So lose 870+144, move 144 to England and lose about 200 there, but gain about 100 because of buses, so net loss 100. That's roughly 1,000 spots to find, plus another maybe 1,500 for the Seasme Street Place. 3 level garage Germany, and you turned 1 1,000 spot lot into a 3,000 spot lot. And make Bavaria a 2 level lot, plus a little more paving, you could turn a 1,500 car lot into space for 3,000 cars.

Parking garages are ridiculously expensive when compared to paved lots. We are talking minimum of 15,000 per space verses 1,000 per space on a surface lot. They would be far better off purchasing more land from the brewery or others than building a garage.

This!

Parking garages are super expensive.

The new parking garage being built at Disney Springs will have a capacity of 2,000 spaces and cost $60 million. Money-struggling SEAS can't afford a structure like that.

Me too. Plus SEAS isn't in good shape financial wise, so it wouldn't be smart of them to do something like this.

This was my first thought. But actually when you consider it if their intent is to just set up the the park in the first year not expand what they have except for maybe a few small things, it actually is really an excellent cost move. It would not be as expensive as a large ride or a new show. It would be a significant change and increase the scope of the park. Further it builds in a natural way to expand. Finally it firewalls kids and their parents off during events like HoS.

I think this is the most fiscally responsible thing they can do short of doing nothing.

RE: Survey Soliciting Interest in the Creation of Sesame Place Williamsburg

I'd assume that the seaside area would probably be a clone of what they're putting into SeaWorld, so there's some possible cost savings as well... This could be a really good thing, if they can figure out the parking situation. If I've learned one thing from growing pains in my workplace, though, it's that screwing up parking for hundreds, if not thousands, of people can really piss them off. And yeah, you can park a little farther away and take a tram in. Trust me, that doesn't appease people at all!!! (And currently in this area, parking garages run about $16,000/space.)
